On February 9, the Ministry of Health informed about food quality inspection and control and advised consumers on ensuring food safety during the 2024 Lunar New Year.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Food Safety, Ministry of Health, stated that during the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival, the demand for food consumption often increases many times, mainly meat, cakes, candies, drinks, etc. Therefore, the Central Steering Committee for Food Safety has directed functional units and localities to strengthen control, promptly prevent the production and trading of fake and poor quality food and ensure the rights of consumers, as well as prevent food poisoning.

Food and dishes during Tet holiday need to be cooked and eaten within 4 hours after cooking.

In terms of basic principles to ensure food safety for people in preserving and processing food for Tet, it is required to eat cooked food and drink boiled water. Cooked food should not be left for more than 4 hours before eating. Furthermore, families should not prepare a lot of food and dishes to eat from day to day. At that time, even if we keep it refrigerated, the quality and safety of the food will still be affected.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Long also pointed out that for ready-made food, we need to pay attention to the full label and follow the manufacturer's instructions on transportation and storage. For the use of food and drinks, each person and family should try to use just enough, moderately, and not use too much, which can affect health.
