The WTO Ministerial Conference is the organization's highest decision-making body and normally meets every two years. Since the WTO was established in 1995, 12 Ministerial Conferences have been held with varying success.
On January 11, 2007, Vietnam officially became the 150th member of the WTO. After 17 years of joining the WTO, Vietnam's trade scale has made great strides, with import-export turnover exceeding 730 billion USD by the end of 2022. In 2023, under the impact of the global economic and trade downturn, import-export will inevitably be affected but still reach the target of over 680 billion USD, a bright spot in macroeconomic growth.
Vietnam is considered one of the 30 countries that have successfully joined the WTO. Strong export growth from a country with a trade deficit, but a trade surplus for 8 consecutive years, with a surplus of 26 billion USD by the end of 2023.
