Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son holds bilateral meetings at AMMR

On the occasion of attending the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat (AMMR) in Luang Prabang (Laos), on January 29, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Thailand Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara and Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Thailand Parnpree Bahiddha on the sidelines of the Conference.

At the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, both sides expressed their delight at the positive development of bilateral relations. Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the results of the official visit to Vietnam by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand in October 2023; he believed that the cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs would become increasingly close, promoting the role of connecting and promoting cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

The two sides agreed to promote the exchange of high-level delegations and implement important cooperation contents, including the program of the Thai Prime Minister's official visit to Vietnam combined with the 4th Vietnam - Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting.

On this occasion, the Thai Foreign Minister invited Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son to pay an official visit to Thailand and co-chair the 5th meeting of the Vietnam-Thailand Joint Committee on Bilateral Cooperation in April 2024.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son received Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan on the sidelines of the Conference.

At the meeting with the Malaysian Foreign Minister, Minister Bui Thanh Son congratulated Mr. Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan on his appointment as Malaysian Foreign Minister; affirmed his appreciation and desire to further promote the Vietnam - Malaysia Strategic Partnership.

The two Ministers agreed to continue promoting the implementation of cooperation contents approved by the two countries' senior leaders at the Action Program to implement the Strategic Partnership for the 2021-2025 period and the results of the 7th Meeting of the Vietnam-Malaysia Joint Committee.

Discussing a number of areas of bilateral cooperation, the Malaysian Foreign Minister agreed to coordinate the organization of high-level visits at an appropriate time; affirmed to support Vietnam in developing the Halal industry and create further conditions for Vietnam's agricultural products and Halal products to penetrate the Malaysian market; and supported Vietnam's efforts to remove the European Commission's (EC) IUU yellow card.

The Malaysian Foreign Minister acknowledged Vietnam's initiative to organize the "ASEAN Future Forum on Rapid and Sustainable Development, People-Centered".

The two Ministers agreed to closely coordinate and support Laos in successfully assuming the role of ASEAN Chair 2024; promote intra-bloc solidarity, for peace and prosperity in the region.

The Malaysian Foreign Minister acknowledged Vietnam's initiative to organize the "ASEAN Future Forum on Rapid and Sustainable Development, People-Centered" (April 2024) and promised to convey Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's invitation to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to attend the Forum.
