(NLDO) - The Minister of Industry and Trade proposed to end the organizational model of the General Department of Market Management to ensure streamlining and efficiency, not mechanical arrangement.
On December 17, in Hanoi, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien chaired the conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025 of the General Department of Market Management (GDM).

Regarding the task of reorganizing the apparatus of the Market Management force, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said that it is expected to end the organizational model of the General Department of Market Management and transfer the local Market Management Departments to the People's Committees of provinces and cities for management, and propose the model of Market Management Sub-Departments under the Department.
"This is quite regrettable but it is something that cannot be left undone and cannot be delayed any further" - Minister Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized and directed that the entire force needs to do a good job in political and ideological work and personnel work.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade will design a mechanism to ensure policy benefits for managers and civil servants performing public duties, creating high consensus and unity in awareness and action throughout the force and each agency and unit.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien also requested the entire force to identify that the restructuring of the apparatus is something that needs to be done and must be done immediately, but it must be done objectively, democratically, scientifically, ensuring streamlining, efficiency, effectiveness, and efficiency (rather than mechanical arrangement), in order to minimize overlap and ambiguity in functions and tasks between units (groups, teams).
"Absolutely do not let internal disunity arise; do not let comparisons, delays, or negligence occur in performing official duties, especially in the context of the approaching New Year and Lunar New Year 2025, the commodity market will be very vibrant, and violations in production and business will easily arise if inspection, supervision, and handling of violations in market management are lax" - the Minister directed.
Regarding the proposed plan to reorganize the apparatus, the Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to end the organizational model of the General Department of Market Management. Establish the Department of Domestic Market Surveillance Management based on the functions, tasks and organizational structure of the General Department of Market Management and the Domestic Market Department. Transfer 63 local Market Management Departments to the People's Committees of provinces and cities and propose the model of the Market Management Sub-Department under the Department of Industry and Trade.
Merging the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority and the Electricity Regulatory Authority, the new unit's name after the arrangement is expected to be the Electricity Authority.
Merging the Department of Local Industry and Trade, the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, the Department of Science and Technology, the new Department name after the arrangement is expected to be the Department of Technology and Innovation.
Rename the Department of Planning and Finance to the Department of Planning, Finance and Enterprise Management.
