This morning, December 29, Comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister attended and directed the online conference to summarize the work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025 of the Ministry of Information and Communications. Attending the conference were leaders of Central Ministries, Departments and branches. At the Son La province bridge, attending the conference were Comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of departments, departments and branches of the province.
In his opening speech, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized: Thoroughly grasping the spirit of the Government's 2024 management theme "Discipline, responsibility, proactiveness, acceleration of innovation, sustainable efficiency" and implementing the 2024 theme of the Information and Communications sector "Universalizing digital infrastructure and innovating digital applications to develop the digital economy - New driving force for economic growth and labor productivity", the Ministry of Information and Communications has actively and proactively focused on building and perfecting the legal environment to promote national digital transformation; focusing on developing the digital economy, creating new driving forces for economic growth and labor productivity. Vietnam's digital infrastructure must be prioritized for investment, modernization and a step ahead to promote national digital transformation, develop the digital economy and digital society, contributing to creating spiritual strength for Vietnam to break through and rise up, successfully carry out the digital transformation revolution, creating a solid foundation to bring our country and our people into a new era, an era of national growth. In 2024, the total revenue of the information and communications industry is estimated at 4.2 million billion VND, an increase of 13.2% compared to 2023. The contribution to the state budget is estimated at 109.4 trillion VND, an increase of 15.1% compared to 2023. The contribution to GDP of the information and communications industry is estimated at 989 trillion VND, an increase of 11.2% compared to 2023.
According to the United Nations' 2024 E-Government Development Index (EGDI), Vietnam has risen to 71st place out of 193 countries, up 15 places compared to 2022. This is the first time Vietnam has been ranked in the very high EGDI group and has the highest ranking since it began participating in the United Nations' EGDI assessment in 2003./
