Bộ sách kỷ niệm 70 năm chiến thắng Điện Biên Phủ của NXB Trẻ.
Book series commemorating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory by Tre Publishing House.

Although they are all about Dien Bien Phu, each book examines history from a different perspective. From the personal memories of soldiers who directly participated in the battle, to the belief of artists in the country’s construction, to the continuation of later generations… All create a diverse picture of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

The book series is designed with uniform covers by artist Mai Que Vo. The books have easy-to-understand, attractive content and are rich in genres, so they are essential for school bookshelves and office and business bookshelves.

Dien Bien Phu - The golden pages of history

Colonel Hoang Minh Phuong, the author of the book, is an assistant to General Vo Nguyen Giap, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the 4th Corps, Head of the General Theory Department - Institute of Military Science, Ministry of National Defense . Dien Bien Phu - Golden Pages of History was written by the author based on memories and experiences on the Dien Bien battlefield and documents collected from many places. In particular, the book is honored to have General Vo Nguyen Giap personally write the preface.

The work not only tells about the battle plan, the arduous fighting, and the glorious victories of our army, but also portrays the brave fighting and selfless labor of soldiers, youth volunteers, intellectuals, artists, and people of all ethnic groups participating in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

Through that, readers clearly understand why Dien Bien Phu was not initially in the battle plan of the French expeditionary force as well as our army, but later became the place where the great decisive battle took place.

Dien Bien Phu - Remember to ponder

The book was written by author Tran Thai Binh, member of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, who participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

The work consists of 5 parts: France's intentions, Our choice, Dien Bien Phu thunders (attacks and influences from the international negotiation table), Dien Bien Phu lessons, General Vo Nguyen Giap's letter on new combat strategies in Dien Bien Phu.

Approaching the Dien Bien Phu Campaign from the perspective of a historian, author Tran Thai Binh has made accurate and sharp comments on the situation of our troops and the enemy. One of the attractive points of the book is the quotes drawn from abundant historical sources from Vietnam and abroad, so that readers can see more clearly the significance and historical lessons from this event.

Red flower

Once adapted into a film, the name Hoa ban do is probably no longer strange to art lovers. The book was written by writer Huu Mai, who is known as the "writer of Vietnamese intelligence novels". He is famous for his works: The Advisor: Profile of a Spy, The Last High Point, Not a Legend...

As a veteran writer on the subject of war and soldiers, Huu Mai has the talent to turn dry details and figures into engaging and captivating pages of writing. Hoa Ban Do is a story about the love and fate of individuals intertwined and blended with the larger historical picture of the nation.

The story is about Bay, a 12-year-old boy, but because he was angry at the enemy's crimes, he pretended to be 14 years old to follow his older sister Tam to become a guerrilla fighter. He participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign and used his experience in digging tunnels behind enemy lines to dig underground trenches to fight the invaders, contributing to the historic feat. Meanwhile, his sister saved and fell in love with Phuong, then had many memories and promises with him in the Northwest Ban flower forest.

Dien Bien Phu - Time and Space

The second work of writer Huu Mai in this series is a unique story about Dien Bien Phu through the stories of many generations: Colonel Quy was a soldier who entered the command bunker of General De Castries in the past. Ms. Thanh is a generation born after the Dien Bien Phu victory and grew up in this land, becoming an officer introducing visitors to the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum.

The third perspective is that of French historian André and African journalist Mohamed. Andre was once in the garrison at Dien Bien Phu. Mohamed also fought in the war and was lucky to survive. They returned to Dien Bien Phu to revisit the old battlefield, to relieve their past sorrows, and to rediscover the strange affections in the land where they found life in death.

Just like that, the Dien Bien Phu battlefield appears through the stories. With an engaging, touching writing style, skillfully interwoven with historical documents, the work helps readers visualize the magnificence of the campaign, the historical impacts on the lives of many people and many generations.

Four years later and pages written about Dien Bien

The book was conceived during the days when writer Nguyen Huy Tuong led a group of artists to Dien Bien Phu to work diligently and selflessly for the cause of national construction.

The novel Four Years Later tells the story of the reconstruction of Dien Bien by the soldiers of Division 316, four years after the liberation day, and the author's diary pages, along with letters sent to family and literary friends during a field trip lasting more than four months (August-December 1958) in Dien Bien.

Reading the work, we see that the history of Dien Bien is not only the image of 54 days and nights of arduous fighting but also the people who devoted their labor every day in the post-war period. In hardship, their spirit still shines with love for their homeland and faith in future life.

The highlight of the work is the diary pages and letters sent from Dien Bien by writer Nguyen Huy Tuong: Each line shows the sincere qualities of a writer in the work of building the Fatherland, with all the urgent hustle and bustle of immersing himself in reality to live and write.

French victory in the sky of Dien Bien Phu

This is also a work with a preface written by General Vo Nguyen Giap. The book is the heart and soul of author Luu Trong Lan, who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

He wrote the book, partly because the memories of the Dien Bien sky still live on, and partly because "to let readers, especially young people, future generations, and those who did not have the opportunity to directly participate in the resistance, understand a little about the glorious victory of our army and people".

Approaching this campaign from the perspective of an anti-aircraft soldier, the book provides accurate explanations and assessments of techniques, strategies and combat operations. According to Senior Lieutenant General, Professor Hoang Minh Thao: “In addition to some major issues on strategic and operational command... he devoted many pages to air defense operations and the role of the anti-aircraft artillery corps, a relatively modern technical corps.”

Contributing to the book series commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, Victory over the French in the Sky of Dien Bien Phu brings a new, professional perspective on the things that made up the great victory of our people.
