On July 5, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a conference to review the work of the first 6 months of the year and plan for the work of the last 6 months of 2023.

The conference unanimously assessed that the world and regional situation in the first 6 months of the year had many rapid and complicated developments, deeply affecting international relations and each country.

In that context, with the motto of being proactive, adaptive and creative, the foreign affairs work of our Party and State has been implemented synchronously and comprehensively and achieved important results.

Foreign affairs continue to be a bright spot in the country's overall achievements, contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, firmly protecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, mobilizing resources for socio-economic development and continuing to enhance the country's position and prestige.

In the first 6 months of the year, relations with partners, especially neighboring countries, regions, major countries, and important partners, have had many new developments and gone into depth.

Economic diplomacy has been carried out with focus and key points, awareness has been raised, achieving specific and practical results, contributing to stabilizing the macro-economy, recovering and developing the economy. Economic diplomacy activities to support localities and businesses in connecting with partners and expanding markets have been effectively implemented.

Multilateral diplomacy is actively implemented, closely combined with bilateral diplomacy, contributing to enhancing the country's prestige, position and promoting its interests.

Diplomacy also contributes significantly to firmly protecting our sovereignty and interests through peaceful measures, in accordance with international law.

The work of Vietnamese people abroad not only demonstrates the State's care and concern for the community, but also acts as a bridge between Vietnam and other countries and contributes to the country's development.

Citizen protection, foreign cultural affairs, and foreign information work have been effectively implemented, with many innovations in implementation methods.

Regarding the work of building the industry, delegates agreed that the direction and operation work is increasingly becoming systematic, the work of financial management and the work of organizing cadres are being carried out systematically and effectively, ensuring that cadres meet high requirements in terms of political qualities, moral qualities, and professional expertise.

In his concluding remarks at the Conference, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son commended the tireless efforts and overcoming of difficulties of the collective of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Minister requested the Foreign Affairs sector to continue to effectively implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Congress of the Party in the last 6 months of the year, promote its pioneering role, and deepen relations with neighboring countries, major countries, important partners, and traditional friends in a stable and sustainable manner.

The Minister requested units within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to do better in research, forecasting and advisory work.

The Minister requested the entire sector to actively carry out economic diplomacy, resolutely and persistently fight to firmly protect the sovereignty and legitimate interests of our country, promote and elevate multilateral diplomacy, effectively carry out citizen protection work, work on overseas Vietnamese, promote the role of cultural diplomacy, apply new communication methods in foreign information, and promote digital transformation.

Regarding the work of building and developing the industry, Minister Bui Thanh Son directed to continue to do better in the work of directing and operating, personnel work, ensuring policies and regimes, emulation and rewards to build a team of increasingly professional and modern cadres with strong political will, qualities and capacities to meet the increasingly high demands of foreign affairs work.

At the end of the Conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs presented titles and rewards to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements contributing to the overall achievements of foreign affairs in the first 6 months of the year.
