Ministry of Foreign Affairs speaks about the incident of the convoy carrying the Vietnamese Ambassador being hit by an explosive device

(Dan Tri) - A convoy carrying ambassadors from 12 countries, including the Vietnamese Ambassador to Pakistan, was hit by a homemade explosive device while on its way to attend the Swat Tourism Development Forum.
On September 26, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang responded to the press about the incident of a homemade explosive device exploding at a diplomatic convoy in Pakistan. Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that according to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan, on September 22, a convoy consisting of a police escort vehicle and vehicles of ambassadors from 12 countries, including the Vietnamese Ambassador to Pakistan, going to attend the Swat Tourism Development Forum, was hit by a homemade explosive device in an area of Khybe Pakhtunkhwa state, Pakistan. The incident killed one police officer and injured four others. The vehicles carrying the ambassadors were safe. Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said Vietnam strongly condemned the attack and would like to send condolences to the families of the victims. "We hope that Pakistani authorities will ensure security and safety for diplomatic agencies and foreign communities, including Vietnamese, who are living, studying and working in the country," Ms. Pham Thu Hang emphasized. According to local police, the diplomatic delegation was visiting the area at the invitation of the local chamber of commerce. The security team leading the delegation was hit by an explosive device on the roadside. After the incident, all diplomats were safe and returned to Islamabad. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack.
