The Ministry of Industry and Trade has asked Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue to urge investors to speed up the progress of infrastructure projects such as warehouses, conveyor belts, ports, and roads to boost coal imports from Laos to Vietnam.

On November 26, the Office of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said it had just received a document from Ministry of Industry and Trade on promoting coal trade between Vietnam and Laos.
The Ministry proposed that the People's Committees of Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces study the reasonable mobilization of existing border gates to serve customs clearance (including coal) imported from Laos.
For projects being invested in La Lay international border gate (Dakrong district), the ministry requested Quang Tri province to urge investor Speed up the construction of coal storage warehouses, transfer to the La Lay border gate area for offloading, speed up investment in the coal conveyor system through La Lay border gate to ensure synchronization with the implementation progress and investment scale on the Lao side.
The two provinces also proactively worked with ministries and branches to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles to speed up investment in route projects. traffic road, coal export port/wharf.
At the same time, resolve the proposals of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group, Dong Bac Corporation and enterprises. coal import Laos on investment in coal storage warehouses and coal export ports/wharfs.

The Ministry also requested the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group, the Northeast Corporation and Lao coal importers to speed up the review of infrastructure systems and port warehouses in the Central region and urgently research and implement investment plans to build safe, environmentally friendly, efficient and legally compliant coal transit warehouses to provide sufficient and stable supply for coal-fired thermal power plants as directed by the Prime Minister in Directive No. 29/CT-TTg.
These units are also required to work and coordinate with Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces to receive guidance and promptly resolve difficulties in the process of investing in the construction of port warehouses, infrastructure serving coal processing, transit and storage in the Central region.
To promote coal imports from Laos to Vietnam, Quang Tri province has recently made efforts to remove difficulties and guide businesses through procedures so that projects can soon come into practice.
Nam Tien Company Limited and Phonesack Vietnam Company Limited are implementing many projects related to coal import with capital of thousands of billions of VND such as the project to build a coal conveyor belt from Laos to Vietnam through La Lay international border gate, over 6.1km long, a warehouse for goods in A Deng village, A Ngo commune (Dakrong district), a specialized port for coal and a warehouse at My Thuy port (Hai Lang)...
According to La Lay customs, in the first 10 months of the year, this border gate cleared 1.7 million tons of coal, paying 370 billion VND in taxes.
