The mother of one shared that her hometown is Thanh Hoa, since moving to Hai Phong to be a daughter-in-law, she has been surprised by men cooking, especially on death anniversaries, holidays and Tet. “Women just need to wash dishes, clean and pick onions and garlic, do chores” – Phuong shared.
She said that because she works at the airport and has to work shifts, she doesn’t often get to cook, even though she is passionate about cooking. “I usually go to work very early and come home very late when no one in the family is awake or has gone to bed, so my parents are very understanding and sympathetic, letting me sleep comfortably.”
“Currently, my father-in-law is the one who cooks for the whole family. He cooks very well and is often trusted by everyone to be the main chef on holidays, Tet or important days of brothers and relatives.”

My father's cooking not only shows his love for his family but also creates a warm atmosphere for the whole family. I really like this and am very grateful for the love my parents and my brother-in-law have for me. I must be very lucky to be their child."
Previously, she was worried about living with her in-laws. But later, when living together, “I found my parents to be very open and gentle, never saying bad things about their daughter-in-law. My parents are very understanding and considerate of their daughter-in-law. During the 5 years I have been a daughter-in-law, I have never had any conflicts with my in-laws,” she said.

The daughter-in-law said that in addition to her husband's parents, her family also has a sister-in-law. To Ms. Phuong, her sister-in-law is like a friend, living in harmony and giving in.
“Before, when my husband and I were not married yet, just lovers, when I came to meet her, my sister-in-law came up and hugged me. That was the first time I felt the warmth from her. After that, when I had to go back to Cam Ranh to work, she came to visit many times and brought me a lot of food from my parents-in-law. I am very grateful for that!”
Ms. Phuong believes that to live in harmony in a multi-generational family, the most important factor is that both sides must understand and sympathize with each other.
