After months of severe shortages, sources in the Ukrainian armed forces said on June 28 that Western ammunition supplies are increasing sharply.

According to AFP , the General Staff of the Ukrainian armed forces and members of three brigades operating in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, said they had noticed this change since the beginning of the year.
“Things have been getting better over the past month and are getting better, at least for 155mm shells,” said a Ukrainian sergeant nicknamed Luntik.
The sergeant cited that in the first quarter of 2024, his unit was strictly allocated “six rounds/24 hours” while the limit is now “up to 40 rounds/day.”
In areas like Kharkiv, where Russia launched a ground offensive last month, the soldier said ammunition was “unlimited.” New supplies have not yet reached 2023 levels, he said, “but it looks like we will get there soon.”
“Things have gotten a lot better,” said an artilleryman from another brigade in the same area. “Unfortunately, the enemy still has the advantage in numbers and artillery systems,” he admitted.
According to a source in the Ukrainian General Staff, the rate of shelling between the Ukrainian and Russian armies has decreased in Kiev's favor thanks to new Western supplies.
Also on June 27, AFP reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was drafting a "comprehensive plan" that Kiev hopes will end the conflict with Russia.
Speaking at a press conference in Kiev alongside his Slovenian counterpart Natasa Pirc Musar, Mr Zelensky stressed: "It is very important for us to come up with a plan to end the conflict... This is the diplomatic path we are pursuing."
There are currently no public talks taking place between Kiev and Moscow. Based on public statements from President Zelensky and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the two sides appear to be further apart than ever on the terms of a potential peace settlement.
