The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on February 24 to vigorously implement green transport projects.
Accordingly, BIDV will provide Transerco with modern financial solutions, prioritizing funding for projects developing vehicles using green energy, contributing to realizing Vietnam's Net Zero commitment. In particular, BIDV will accompany Transerco in implementing the Project "Converting buses using electric energy and green energy of Hanoi Transport Corporation in the period of 2024-2035" with the goal of converting all diesel buses to electric buses.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Le Ngoc Lam - General Director of BIDV said that BIDV always identifies sustainable development as a consistent goal in its operations. With the vision of "pioneering in creating sustainable values", BIDV pursues the strategy of positioning the Green Bank brand. Through the signing of the memorandum of understanding, BIDV wishes to cooperate closely and effectively with Transerco to contribute to accelerating the process of "greening" the transport system, bringing sustainable values to the community, and actively contributing to the National Strategy on Green Growth for the period up to 2030, with a vision to 2050.
In addition, BIDV will provide a variety of products and services to Transerco, especially accompanying the implementation of digitalization and automation of cashless payment services.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam - General Director of Transerco also shared that as a leading unit in the field of public passenger transport in Hanoi, Transerco is gradually converting to vehicles using electric energy and green energy. With the support of BIDV, Transerco believes that it will soon realize the roadmap for converting to electric buses, contributing to the construction of a modern and environmentally friendly public transport system.
The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between BIDV and Transerco affirms the determination of the two units to elevate their cooperative relationship in the new period and join efforts to create a green economy. The cooperation between the two sides is also expected to bring positive values, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving urban air quality and moving towards the country's sustainable development goals./.
