Immediately after receiving the above information, Binh Duong General Hospital immediately requested the emergency/examination/surgery and treatment team for patient LTT to report and clarify the entire incident.
Relatives gathered at the hospital to demand an explanation for the patient's ovarian removal. (Photo cut from clip on social media).
Specifically, the hospital said that patient LTT (born in 1988) was transferred by Hong Ngoc General Hospital to the Emergency Resuscitation Department - Binh Duong Provincial General Hospital at 3:15 p.m. on July 11, 2023 with a diagnosis of Acute Appendicitis. After examination and test results, the doctors diagnosed Acute Appendicitis and explained to the patient and family to perform emergency surgery.
After that, the patient underwent laparoscopic surgery, the doctors discovered that the right fallopian tube (the part that leads to the uterus) was swollen, with pus flowing from the fallopian tube, so they invited an obstetrician to examine it and the appendix showed no signs of inflammation. However, at this time, the doctors immediately contacted the patient's family via the phone number provided but could not reach them, in addition, the operating room also made an announcement to invite the family but could not contact them.
In a situation where prolonged anesthesia was not possible for the patient's health, the surgical team decided to cut off the swollen and pus-filled fallopian tube to completely treat the patient's infection, while preserving the fallopian tube and both ovaries.
After the surgery, the obstetrics department discussed and explained the patient's condition and treatment to her and her relatives. Currently, the patient's abdominal pain has subsided, the surgical wound is dry, her health is gradually stabilizing, and her left fallopian tube and both ovaries are still in normal condition.
According to the hospital, because they were unable to contact the patient's family, due to time and the urgent situation, the hospital was unable to promptly discuss and thoroughly explain the patient's condition when changing the treatment method appropriately in advance, causing misunderstandings and frustration for the patient and family.
