Binh Dinh Secretary: 'If we do well in the F1 powerboat race, Binh Dinh will be famous, if we don't do well, we will be infamous'

Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung has just requested the above, at the 15th Provincial Party Executive Committee Conference (term XX). The UIM F1H2O International Professional Powerboat Race and UIM-ABP AQUABIKE Binh Dinh Grand Prix 2024 is a 'one of a kind' sporting event in Vietnam, which will be held at the end of March 2024 at Thi Nai Lagoon (Binh Dinh Province). Binh Dinh Secretary requested the entire political system to get involved, carefully prepare all tasks, to best organize the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh 2024 International Professional Powerboat Race. "This is the first F1 race in Vietnam, if done well, Binh Dinh from a small province can do such a thing, it will become famous, spreading to the world. But on the contrary, if not done carefully, it will not only lose money but also get a bad reputation", Secretary Dung noted.

The head of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee requested that from now on, working groups must be established to review and prepare all issues, so that when visitors come to Binh Dinh, all conditions regarding food, transportation, services and related issues must be ensured, and no mistakes will occur. "I am very worried about this, if it has the opposite effect, it will be dangerous, so it needs to be done carefully and closely," Secretary Dung requested. Notably, in early 2024, Binh Dinh will resume charter flights from Korea to Binh Dinh and vice versa. Previously, these flights were carried out quite successfully and carefully but had to be temporarily suspended due to the Covid-19 epidemic. After a long time of effort, Binh Dinh leaders have completed the negotiation and connection and are proceeding to carry out the flights again.

This is a very meaningful signal for Binh Dinh at this time. If the flights are good, in addition to the Korean market, Binh Dinh leaders will continue to operate flights in other countries such as Japan, Thailand, Singapore, etc. The success of the flights is a necessary condition to turn Phu Cat airport into an international airport. "The Party Committee's Executive Committee must review and prepare carefully. Previously, there was a working group consisting of police, customs, health, etc., who were well-trained to control airport security. We must create maximum conditions for this group to serve international flights in the best way," said Secretary Dung.

Throughout the terms, Binh Dinh leaders have had a policy of developing green tourism, respecting public space and maintaining a clean environment. With the F1 powerboat racing event, held for the first time in Vietnam at Thi Nai lagoon, Binh Dinh is expected to attract tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors to attend. The image of culture, people and tourism resources of the 'land of martial arts, sky of literature' will be widely promoted through international television channels. Through the race, Binh Dinh will gain more experience, ensuring the capacity and infrastructure to organize international sporting events. To approach and be approved to host the race, the opportunity came to Binh Dinh like a 'fate', which can be summed up in two words, fast and decisive. This is an honor but also full of challenges and hardships.

"Just one week after receiving the information, we invited the copyright holder to come and survey and sign a preliminary memorandum of understanding. At the same time, the preparation and promotion of legal procedures were carried out very quickly," Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Lam Hai Giang shared with the press. Binh Dinh F1 Joint Stock Company was established immediately after that to take charge of the organization. According to the leader of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, because this is the first time the province has organized an international sporting event and also the first time the race has been held in Vietnam, it must be admitted that the province does not have much experience. Binh Dinh has also determined that it must "run, line up, work, and learn from experience", proactively coordinate to resolve difficulties and problems, not avoid or shirk responsibility with the determination and drastic direction of the provincial leaders.

The 2024 Binh Dinh Grand Prix International Powerboat Race, with two categories held in Binh Dinh, is the UIM-F1H2O powerboat race and the UIM-ABP jet ski race, taking place at the end of March 2024, on Thi Nai lagoon. The UIM-F1H20 Professional Powerboat Race is one of the fastest and most adventurous races in the world with dramatic technical maneuvers such as overcoming corners at speeds of over 145 km/h and reaching a maximum speed of 226 km/h on straight sections. In history, there has been a racer who achieved a world record speed of 261 km/h. In the 38 years from 1984 to 2021, this sport has held 297 major races in 33 countries on five continents. The UIM-ABP Aquabike race is a new race in Vietnam, considered one of the most colorful and attractive water motorbike races in the world.
