Binh Dinh - According to the Organizing Committee, the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship held at Thi Nai lagoon (Quy Nhon city) will officially have 55 racers competing in 4 categories.
On March 22, the race promoter Aquabike Promotion - said that the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship has only 55 racers from 26 countries registered to compete in 4 categories. Of these, there are 20 Runabout GP1 racers, 21 Ski Division GP1 racers, 11 Ski Ladies GP1 racers and 3 Freestyle athletes. "Previously, the tournament's website announced that there would be 62 racers registered to compete. However, for some reasons, the number of participating racers will change compared to the expected number, with only 55 racers officially competing in the categories of the world championship of jet skiing at the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh 2024," said Mr. Paolo di San Germano - representative of Aquabike Promotion. After surveying the weather and competition area, the Organizing Committee decided to increase the length of the race track from 1,500m to 1,800m. According to the organizers, among the participating racers, there are 11 female racers from different countries. Among them, 2 racers have been world champions. Mr. Raimondo di San Germano - CEO of Aquabike Promotion - said that this is one of the stages with beautiful racing tracks, clear blue sea water, water surface standards, and excellent depth for the racers to show their talents. The attraction of this format is the competition of the best racers in 3 categories in the qualifying round (Pole Position): Top 8 Runabout GP1, Top 8 Ski Division GP1 and top 4 or 6 Ski Ladies GP1. Each category will be divided into pairs to be eliminated directly into the semi-finals and finals. The tracks are arranged in parallel, each pair starts at the same time and passes the same buoys. The racer who reaches the finish line first will win. Therefore, this format requires the racers to have skills, speed and courage, creating classy chases right on the waves. Rider Roberto Mariani - 2023 Freestyle Champion shared: I think the important thing is the connection with the audience. The support of the audience will be the ultimate weapon to help the riders get closer to victory. On the first day of the race, the racers were present at the competition area to practice and get familiar with the track. The performances of the racers on the "jet" with roaring sound at Thi Nai lagoon attracted a large audience. On March 23, the race will take place with the qualifying round in the morning from 10:30 - 14:00 in 4 categories. The Motocross race 1 will take place from 15:15 - 16:45 with the categories Ski Ladies GP1, Ski Division GP1, Runabout GP1; From 21:00 to 23:00, the Parallel Slalom and Freestyle Moto 1 racing formats will take place.
