Clarifying the outstanding features of each historical period
According to Master Nguyen Thi Hai Hue (valedictorian, runner-up of the History Pedagogy Faculty, Hanoi National University of Education), students need to pay attention to reviewing, closely following the exam questions given by the Ministry of Education and Training, focusing on the history section of grade 12, and also paying attention to reviewing the basic knowledge of grade 11.
To review effectively and master the exam, students should pay attention to some methods: Master basic historical events, characters, and phenomena. Historical characters and events are basic elements of history.
When studying, students need to place events and characters in the correct time and space to analyze their roles, impacts, or related events and characters; master the fields of economics, military, politics, culture, and society to have accurate analysis and choices for questions; clarify the unique and outstanding characteristics of each period in history.
Instead of memorizing, students should learn basic historical keywords specific to each topic, each period, each lesson; according to historical mind maps, timelines of historical events and periods.
Students can apply mind maps to learn about historical events, or learn by motifs (symbolic formulas) of causes, developments, results, meanings, etc.; Compare and contrast the similarities and differences of similar historical content according to content and period.
Candidates do not read the questions carefully, leading to misunderstanding the requirements; are subjective in easy, basic questions, leading to unfortunate mistakes; do not pay attention to negative questions, leading to wrong choices; and do not allocate test time reasonably between questions...
5 common mistakes when taking geography exams
Ms. Le Phuong Loan, geography teacher at Vinschool High School, said that the scope of reviewing this subject focuses mainly on the 12th grade program, about Vietnamese geography.
In addition to the knowledge about nature, population, and economy, a very important group of skills that need to be regularly practiced and reviewed is using the Vietnam Geography Atlas, working with data tables (processing data, commenting on data tables), working with charts (recognizing charts, determining the content of charts, commenting on charts). Being allowed to use the Vietnam Geography Atlas to do the test is a great advantage for candidates to be able to get full marks for questions using the Atlas and many other questions.
According to this teacher, when taking the geography test, candidates often make some basic mistakes. Firstly, they only focus on doing the test on the test paper without paying attention to the time, resulting in too little time left to fill in the multiple choice questions.
Second, students leave multiple choice questions blank because they cannot find the correct answer. The advice given by this expert is that candidates need to complete the answer selection for all multiple choice questions so as not to miss the opportunity to get points because whether the questions are difficult or easy, they all have the same score, avoid getting bogged down in difficult questions to lose points for easy questions.
Rule 3: Do the easy questions first, then the difficult ones. Allocate time appropriately for each question. Always leave 5 to 10 minutes at the end of the test to check your answer sheet.
Mistake 4: Students do not read the sentences and answers carefully, especially sentences with negative words and phrases such as "no", "not", "yet", "not exactly", "inaccurate" leading to incorrect answers.
Fifth mistake, lack of self-confidence, constantly editing answers leads to unnecessary anxiety. When doing each question, underline the keywords to quickly access the requirements of the question.
Civics exam will increase practical application
Mr. Tran Van Nang, a teacher at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, said that the 2024 exam will have a reasonable increase in some content related to practical application to gradually approach the orientation of capacity assessment in accordance with the requirements for developing learners' capacity and qualities of the new General Education Program.
Based on the 2024 high school graduation reference exam, it can be seen that the exam questions mainly cover 90% of the 12th grade program and 10% of the 11th grade program, stable as the 2023 exam questions.
The questions in the exam are mainly about recognition and understanding (about 75%). Application and advanced application questions account for about 25%. The exam is arranged from easy to difficult, logically, scientifically, and differentiated.
The official exam content in 2024 will follow the reference exam of the Ministry of Education and Training every year, so students need to pay attention to the following main points:
Grade 11: focus on semester I: Citizens and economy, specifically the following contents: Citizens and economic development; Goods - Market - Money; Law of value in production and circulation of goods; Competition in production and circulation of goods; Supply and demand in production and circulation of goods
Grade 12: The questions in the exam range from lesson 1 to lesson 9, there are no questions in the reduced section, the following contents often focus on many questions: Law enforcement; Citizens are equal before the law; Citizens' equal rights in some areas of social life; Citizens with basic freedoms; Citizens with democratic rights
During the test, candidates often make the following mistakes: Situational questions require students' logical thinking ability, so most of them often have difficulty handling these questions.
When encountering the above type of question, candidates need to read the question carefully, underline the keywords, and identify the focus of the problem to be answered. Then, they analyze the given answers, can use the method of eliminating irrelevant answers, and then choose the most correct answer.
Students are often subjective and easily lose points in the recognition and understanding questions. Please note that all questions have the same score, so avoid being subjective and losing points on easy questions or focusing too much on difficult questions and losing points regrettably.
When dealing with the first 30 questions of the test, students are often subjective and quickly choose the "familiar" answers or just skim through the first 1-2 words and hastily choose the answer. This can easily cause them to lose points. Therefore, with any question, students need to read the test carefully and check the answers after doing the test.
When doing the test, students often confuse equivalent or similar knowledge units. For example, 4 forms of law enforcement, 4 types of law violations; basic freedoms; basic democratic rights of citizens... Therefore, students should make a comparison table to easily distinguish, or identify the keywords of each knowledge unit to avoid confusion.
