Previously, on the evening of October 27, Mr. Hoang Tuan shared on his personal page that he would sue three singers Thai Trinh, Bang Cuong, and Duong Edward for singing copyrighted music without permission.

Accordingly, Mr. Hoang Tuan said that when using works of HT Productions (Mr. Hoang Tuan's company), organizations and individual singers need to get permission to use them on YouTube, perform or post them on other social networking platforms.

He also said that some singers have respected copyright when contacting for permission to use songs such as Trung Quan Idol, Vicky Nhung, Hoa Minzy, Isaac, Ha Nhi.

However, the manager of singer Dan Truong confirmed that despite being reminded, some singers still blatantly used it. Therefore, HT Productions has gone through a lawyer to file a lawsuit against singers such as Duong Edward, Thai Trinh, and Bang Cuong. In addition, YouTube has also removed the illegally used songs.

At the end of 2022, Dan Truong's manager said that Duong Edward asked for permission to cover 3 songs : Rain on Love, Unrequited Love, Love in the Rain but only agreed to let the male singer post the recording on YouTube, not agreeing to use it for performance purposes. According to Mr. Hoang Tuan, all 3 of these songs were performed by Duong Edward in many different shows without permission.

Duong Edward was born in 1992 and became known to the public when he finished in the Top 5 of Vietnam Idol 2016. He has covered many international and domestic songs such as I'm yours, Price tag, Rain on love, Unrequited love,... attracting tens of millions of views on YouTube.

In 2019, Duong Edward released the project Khuc hoa tinh (Love Song) consisting of 12 cover songs with his own personal touch and was warmly received by the audience. However, the cover story has been a controversial topic in the Vietnamese music industry recently due to copyright issues.
