US fighter jets take off from the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower to attack Houthi targets on February 3.

CNN reported on February 4 that the US and UK conducted strikes on more than 30 Houthi targets at 13 locations in Yemen from ships and aircraft, including F/A-18 aircraft.

In a joint statement, the US and UK said the February 3 attack had the support of several other countries.

"Today's strikes specifically targeted sites associated with Houthi weapons storage facilities, missile systems and launchers, air defense systems and deeply buried radars," according to a statement issued by the US, UK, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands and New Zealand.

According to a US official, two US destroyers, the USS Gravely and the USS Carney, launched Tomahawk missiles, while F/A-18 aircraft from the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower also participated.

The US Central Command said the attack took place at 7:20 p.m. on February 3, targeting cruise missiles that the Houthis were preparing to launch at ships in the Red Sea.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement that the strikes were intended to continue to disrupt and degrade the Houthis' ability to attack US and other foreign vessels in the Red Sea.

“This collective action sends a clear message to the Houthis that they will continue to suffer further consequences if they do not cease their unlawful attacks on international naval vessels and shipping,” the statement said.

Houthis say US and British warplanes have attacked several provinces in Yemen, including the capital Sanaa.

Houthi Political Council official Mohammed Al Bukhaiti said the force would continue military operations until Israel ended its military action in Gaza, and vowed to retaliate against the US and UK.

“We will use escalation to meet escalation,” the Houthi official said.

"The US-UK coalition bombing of several Yemeni provinces will not change our position and we affirm that military operations against Israel will continue until the genocide in Gaza ends and the siege on its people is lifted, regardless of the sacrifices we have to pay," he stressed.
