Closing of the Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City

The solemn session of the 9th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union on November 5 closed after nearly 2 days of work.

Speaking with the youth at the solemn session, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai discussed many issues, emphasizing that the youth are the force that decides the future of the city.

Youth education is an important task.

The final working session of the congress had the participation of former Vice President Truong My Hoa, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai, many leaders of the Central Youth Union, Head of the City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Manh Cuong, and many leaders of the City Youth Union and Ho Chi Minh City, along with 441 official delegates.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee praised the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Youth Union for its efforts in its work, maintaining many outstanding activities with its own mark. However, in the context of fluctuations, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity, youth education must be an important task.

The association must promote the tradition of patriotism through the movement "I love my Fatherland", considering it an important and regular political task. "We must promote the pride and qualities of the young generation of Ho Chi Minh City: solidarity, dynamism, creativity, humanity, tolerance, chivalry, and law-abidingness," said Mr. Hai.

3 "orders" with young people

- Work with the government to promote the innovation movement, complete the startup database project, and develop youth startups.

- Pioneer in building "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space".

- Actively undertake projects and tasks to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, and do a good job of showing gratitude.

Mr. Hai said that Ho Chi Minh City aims for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development based on strong innovation of the growth model and economic restructuring. Science, technology and innovation will be the main driving force, promoting digital transformation in a comprehensive, substantive and effective manner.

Therefore, the association's mission is to work with the city to develop intellectual human resources in all fields. "The city relies mainly on the human factor, first of all on the youth, who will decide the city's future in the coming decades," Mr. Hai emphasized.

Search for, nurture, and train youth leaders in many different environments, especially in schools. They must be dynamic, creative, dare to think, dare to do, dare to commit, be close to the youth, understand the youth, and organize exactly what the youth need.

Innovate to avoid falling behind or going slow

Analyzing the context, Mr. Hai hopes that the Association will deepen its thinking and constantly innovate its content and methods of operation "so as not to go slow or fall behind the needs and trends of young people".

It is necessary to innovate association activities, promote collective spirit, and expand the youth solidarity front according to professions and social classes. The Association is a bridge to attract young people studying and working in all fields, young people who are religious followers, ethnic minorities, and overseas Vietnamese.

Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union Nguyen Kim Quy said that despite going through many difficulties and challenges in the previous term, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the organization and the city's youth have shown determination, implemented many contents, and achieved many successes. "Many programs and initiatives of the city's youth have developed and left their mark domestically and internationally," said Mr. Quy.

Therefore, the Central Committee of the Association believes that in the coming time, the Association's work and the youth movement of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to grow, meeting the trust and expectations of the youth and city leaders.

Mr. Hai suggested paying attention to raising awareness of digital transformation, building digital government, digital economy, and digital society among young people. In particular, regularly reviewing to ensure that the youth movement focuses on practical issues, is sustainable, and does not pursue achievements and compete in form.

At the same time, pay attention to the quality of cadres, because in reality there are cadres who have not overcome themselves and are influenced from the outside. It is necessary to have a plan to build and train a fundamental, systematic, long-term, step-by-step, and solid cadre team, ensuring continuity and overcoming the patchwork situation.

At the closing session, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Committee for the 2024-2029 term, consisting of 79 members, was introduced. Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Committee, term IX, Ngo Minh Hai, on behalf of the Congress, accepted the task.

The official and alternate delegations of Ho Chi Minh City attending the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union also made their debut at the congress.

10 problems of youth

At the congress, on behalf of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai pointed out 10 issues of today's youth which, according to him, although not new, if the Youth Union - Association does not grasp, it will not be able to keep up with the trend and will find it difficult to attract young people on the path of dedication and creativity. These are:

- The interest and need to participate in political and social activities of young people, especially intellectual youth.

- The issue of fighting against corruption, waste and negativity.

- The role of the State, Youth Union and Association is to guide, support and connect to bring valuable ideas of young people into practical life.

- Youth challenges and initiatives on environmental protection and climate change response.

- The need for young people to establish and participate in non-profit volunteer organizations serving the community.

- The role of youth in building family values ​​and standards for Vietnamese people in the new era.

- Cultural environment, cultural life, cultural and sports activities needs of young people, including lifestyle, concepts, perceptions and cultural creations of a group of young people who want to be respected.

- Life skills of young people in the digital age; cultivating soft skills, interacting in cyberspace; ways to deal with trivial and deviant tastes in society, especially among young people.

- Marriage, young family building and reproductive health issues.

- The role of rural youth in the process of building new rural areas.
