Germany suffered a 2-3 defeat away to Bochum in the 22nd round of the Bundesliga, leaving Bayern eight points behind league leaders Leverkusen and plunging them deeper into crisis.
Previously, Bayern suffered a crushing 0-3 defeat away to Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and lost 0-1 to Lazio in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. This was the first time the "Bavarian giants" had lost three consecutive matches in all competitions since May 2015. They also suffered their seventh defeat of the season and their eleventh in 44 matches under coach Thomas Tuchel.

After being eliminated by third-division side Saarbrucken in the second round of the German Cup, this losing streak has further jeopardized Tuchel's position. According to Bild , Bayern's board held an emergency meeting immediately after the defeat against Bochum to consider the German coach's future. It is almost certain that Tuchel will be sacked if Bayern do not win against RB Leipzig in the 23rd round of the Bundesliga on February 25th.
At the Vonovia Ruhrstadion on February 28th, Bayern had the edge, controlling 70% of the ball possession and taking 27 shots with 10 on target – compared to Bochum's 13 and 4. The visitors opened the scoring with a powerful shot from Jamal Musiala in the 14th minute, but then squandered a series of clear chances. Harry Kane shot over the bar in a one-on-one situation in the 19th minute, and Musiala curled a shot wide of the post a few minutes later.
Wasting opportunities, the defending champions paid a heavy price. In the 38th minute, Anthony Losilla played a through ball to Takuma Asano, who broke free unmarked and fired a diagonal shot past Manuel Neuer. The Japanese striker scored his seventh goal of the season and his first in his seventh encounter with Bayern.

In the 44th minute, Kevin Stoger took a corner kick from the right wing, and center-back Keven Schlotterbeck rose high to head the ball in, giving Bochum a lead going into halftime. On the sidelines, Tuchel was furious and immediately discussed the situation with his assistants.
A similar scenario unfolded in the second half, when Bayern failed to capitalize on a series of opportunities and conceded another goal in the 77th minute. Dayot Upamecano swung his arm at Schlotterbeck's face in the penalty area, receiving a direct red card and resulting in a penalty for his team. Upamecano had also received a direct red card and conceded a penalty in the match against Lazio a few days earlier. This time, Neuer was also unable to save the penalty despite getting a hand to Kevin Stoger's shot.
In the 87th minute, Kane finished into an empty net, setting a record of 25 goals in 22 Bundesliga matches, but it couldn't prevent Bayern from losing. The 2-3 result left Tuchel's team eight points behind Leverkusen with 12 rounds remaining in the season.
