Bayern are ready to release their contract to let coach Julian Nagelsmann lead the German national team to replace Hansi Flick, but with two conditions.
In March 2023, the reigning Bundesliga champions fired Nagelsmann and appointed Thomas Tuchel. Although he has been out of the job for more than half a year, Nagelsmann is still under contract with Bayern until 2026, earning around $145,000 a week.
German Football Federation (DFB) director Rudi Voller is said to want to replace Hansi Flick with Nagelsmann, and sees the former Bayern coach as the "dream solution" for the position of head coach of the German national team.
According to Bild , Bayern realized the importance of the German team quickly finding a new coach to best prepare for Euro 2024 held at home. Therefore, the Allianz Arena owner did not ask the DFB to pay Nagelsmann's contract termination fee, but set two conditions.

Firstly, if Bayern release Nagelsmann, they want the DFB to guarantee that the 36-year-old will be appointed to coach the national team, and not be free to move to another club. Secondly, the DFB must pay Nagelsmann's entire salary, and Bayern will no longer be responsible for any of it.
Bayern CEO Uli Hoeness has insisted the club will not stop Nagelsmann from taking charge of Germany. "If the deal falls through, it will certainly not be because of Bayern," he said. According to Sky Sports , the DFB has not had any contact with Nagelsmann's representatives.
Following Flick's sacking, DFB director Rudi Voller took over as Germany's interim coach for the friendly against France at Dortmund's Westfalenstadion last night. Voller - who led the team to the runner-up position at the 2002 World Cup - had two assistants, U20 coach Hannes Wolf, and 35-year-old former striker and former international Sandro Wagner. The changes immediately paid off as Germany beat France 2-1 to end a three-match losing streak.
Voller said he would only take charge of one match and hoped the DFB would find a new coach before the two friendlies against the United States on October 14 and Mexico on October 17. "It is important that we start generating excitement quickly. That comes with results but with a new coach it is possible," the DFB director stressed.
In a Sky Sports poll, Jurgen Klopp was voted the most popular manager. But Klopp will not leave Liverpool mid-season and is under contract until 2026. The 56-year-old's dual role as Liverpool and Germany manager has also been ruled out.
In addition to Klopp and Nagelsmann, other candidates listed by German media include Julian Nagelsmann, Miroslav Klose, Jurgen Klinsmann or foreign coaches such as Oliver Glasner, Louis van Gaal and Zinedine Zidane.
