Mr. Vance said on August 15 that he had also accepted an invitation to debate on October 1, and mentioned another invitation from CNN on September 18. Previously, in an interview with Fox News on August 14, Senator Vance confirmed that he wanted to participate in the debate on October 1, but not in a "no-audience" manner like what happened in the debate between Mr. Trump and President Joe Biden on June 27. Meanwhile, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Democratic opponent Kamala Harris will participate in the debate on September 10 on ABC News. This will be the first direct confrontation in a campaign that is reflected in very close polls. According to recent polls, Ms. Harris is currently tied or leading Mr. Trump in most of the swing states that will decide the outcome of the race for the White House in early November.
