On June 28, Long Thanh District Police ( Dong Nai ) issued a decision to temporarily detain Bui Duc Hien (born 1996, residing in Cam Duong Commune, Long Thanh District) to investigate the act of "Extortion of property".
According to initial information, in the early morning of June 25, Hien was driving a motorbike with license plate 59F1-795.71 on Provincial Road 769 when he saw a person not wearing a helmet and appearing drunk. At this time, Hien stopped the vehicle and claimed to be a police officer, asking the violator to present his papers.
Seeing Hien wearing a police uniform, Mr. NCT (living in Long Thanh district) believed the subject. However, Mr. T. could not present any documents, so Hien asked for money to ignore the violation. Fearful, Mr. T. gave Hien 200,000 VND.
At this time, the police force of Loc An commune, Long Thanh district, patrolled the area, discovered the incident and immediately detained the subject and brought him to headquarters to clarify the case.
At the police station, Hien confessed that because he had no money to spend, he came up with the idea of impersonating a police officer to check vehicle registration and threaten traffic participants in order to appropriate property.
The case is being further investigated by the police and will be strictly handled according to the law.
