According to 9news, on the morning of January 7, Australian Victoria state police arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with a series of knife attacks in Melbourne that injured four people.
The suspect is accused of stabbing and injuring four people in three random attacks from the evening of January 6 to the early morning of January 7.
Initial investigations indicate that the attacks were not related to terrorism. The perpetrator had a criminal record. At the scene, police seized a bag containing many knives from the suspect.
The injured, aged between 24 and 31, were taken to hospital for treatment. Among the victims was a foreigner.
Police are investigating the motive for the attack. They are investigating whether the suspect was mentally ill or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Charges are expected to be filed on January 7.
