(Dan Tri) - On the day she returned to her hometown, the granddaughter cleaned up her grandmother's old room. In an old barrel and jar full of rotten rice, people discovered 1 tael of gold and 5 million dong hidden.
Recently, a clip recording the image of an old jar full of moldy rice but containing a lot of money and gold of an 85-year-old woman has caused a stir on social networks.
Watching this clip, many people remember the usual activities of their grandfathers and grandmothers back home.
Ms. Phan Tra Mi - the person who recorded the clip - said that on the occasion of the New Year holiday, she returned to reunite with her family in Tien Hai (Thai Binh). While cleaning the yard, she suddenly remembered the boxes and jars scattered in her grandmother's room.

Everyone rolled up their sleeves and pushed the object out into the yard to ventilate the room. "We thought the jar was empty, but when we poured it out, it was full of moldy, spoiled rice," Mi shared.
Unexpectedly, mixed in with the pile of moldy rice, a plastic jar appeared. Curiously opening it, Ms. Mi discovered inside were 8 rings worth about 1 tael of gold. Continuing to clean up the metal box, she found 5 million VND in many different denominations wrapped in many layers of plastic bags.
"Everyone was extremely surprised by this large amount of money and gold. After knowing that it was not our mother's, we were shocked to realize that it was our grandmother's savings," said Ms. Mi.
The old lady is Ngo Thi Phau. In recent years, she has not been as clear-headed as before. When she was informed about the money and gold, she herself did not remember that it was hers.
According to Ms. Mi, this amount of money may have been saved by the old lady over the past 7 years from lucky money given to her by everyone. The elderly save money and do not dare to spend it to save for their children and grandchildren in the future.

"Every time we go back to our hometown, we often tease him and tell us where he has hidden the gold. But he always shakes his head. Yet when he got married to his nephew in 2019, he still went to the altar to give the gold," she added.
He was a gentle, honest, and simple man. Through her mother's story, Mi learned that he received the news of her husband's death at the age of 27. At that time, her mother was still learning to walk.
He raised and educated her mother alone. Therefore, when she got married, Mi's mother still lived with him to take care of her and help her feel less lonely. Although his memory is declining, Mr. Phau is still healthy and is a strong spiritual support for his children and grandchildren.
As for the forgotten money, everyone decided to give it to her mother to keep. Now her life is more fulfilling, she lives a prosperous life, surrounded by her children and grandchildren every day.
"His kindness and tolerance helped us have a childhood filled with love. I respect and love this simple and frugal virtue even more. Perhaps looking at his image, someone will suddenly remember the common actions of their grandparents in their hometown," Ms. Mi added.
