On January 25, Hue City Police announced that they had successfully broken up a case, arresting four suspects who had committed a series of motorbike thefts in the area. The suspects detained include: Nguyen Vu Trung (22 years old), Nguyen Thanh (20 years old), Le Tung Duong (18 years old) and Phan Van Hoang Long (17 years old, all residing in Quang Tri).
This group also includes Bui Minh Hung (30 years old, residing in Cam Lo District, Quang Tri), who has fled his residence.
Previously, in Hue City, there were consecutive thefts of new Honda Wave motorbikes. The thefts all had the same characteristics: targeting people's motorbikes that were left unlocked on the sidewalk or in deserted places. The group even broke into people's houses to steal motorbikes.
After receiving the report, Hue City Police established a special project to investigate and clarify the case. On January 12, the special project team collected sufficient evidence and coordinated with the police of Quang Tri province to arrest the four suspects.
Initially, the group confessed to removing the tire, wiring the motorbike to start the engine and then escaping. The group committed 10 motorbike thefts in Hue City, then drove straight to Dong Ha City (Quang Tri) to sell. Hue City Police said that the valuation of the 10 Honda Wave motorbikes stolen by the group was equivalent to 108.5 million VND.
