Wang Di (born in 1980) was born into a wealthy family, both parents were intellectuals. His family lived in Chaoyang, a famous wealthy area in Beijing.
According to Toutiao, thanks to good family conditions and careful education from his parents, Vuong Dich studied very well and had a special love for antiques.
After graduating from high school, he passed the entrance exam to study cultural relics at a university in Beijing. After graduating from university, he went to Germany to continue his research on historical relics.
Both have a special passion for ancient relics.
Tanzen, meanwhile, was born in Berlin, Germany, in 1958. After graduating from university, Tanzen traveled to China to learn about traditional culture. At the age of 28, she was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Austria and began studying the history and restoration of cultural relics.
She received her PhD in 1996 and was then invited to work at a university in Berlin.
Although she loves Chinese culture very much, she spends a lot of effort searching for information because she doesn't understand Chinese.
At this time, a student introduced her to a Chinese person who was also passionate about ancient relics, that was Vuong Dich.
At that time, Vuong Dich was trying to adapt to the study environment abroad. The strange streets, unfamiliar teaching methods, and different customs made it difficult for him to adapt to life in Germany.
Tanzen was like a ray of light shining through Wang Di's dark study abroad days.
Despite family objections, the two registered their marriage.
His first impression of Tanzen was very good: “Although she is over 50 years old, she is very funny and has a deep understanding of Chinese culture.”
Love begins to blossom
The two often research cultural relics together, and sometimes when they have nothing to do, they chat until late at night. “We often chat together, talk about everything in the world, even missing the last train,” Vuong Dich smiled.
Tanzen always listened to Wang Di's conversation, giving advice in a humorous way. She rarely acted like a professor. Over time, feelings developed between them. He believed that she was the love of his life.
“When I don’t know how to solve a problem, whether it’s about studying or life, she will analyze it and speak her sincere thoughts. I know that she is my destiny,” he said.
That year, he was 28 years old, many people think that at this age, career is the top priority. However, he thought that finding someone who understands him is the greatest luck. Therefore, he took the initiative to confess his love to Tanzen.
She also had feelings for him, so the age difference did not become a barrier between the two. After officially dating, she was busy with work, he took the initiative to take care of his girlfriend's daily meals. In their free time, the two cooked dinner together, went to the supermarket, and watched movies like other couples.
After all, Vuong Dich's family gradually accepted this daughter-in-law.
When rumors of their romance spread throughout the school, everyone was surprised. Tanzen was not too surprised to learn that his parents were against the relationship.
His mother could not accept that her only son loved a foreign woman who was much older than him. She asked her son to break up with Tanzen or she would disown him. Tanzen did not want his lover to be in a difficult situation so he suggested breaking up. Wang Di did not agree.
He doesn't want to sacrifice his happiness just to please others. He wants to get married without telling his parents.
The two then secretly registered their marriage in Germany, before announcing it to their relatives. His mother was so angry that she fainted, and his father sighed in frustration. They knew they couldn’t stop their son.
They got married in Berlin in 2009. Since then, they have settled in Germany and only return to China to visit relatives at fixed times each year.
His mother has now accepted the existence of this daughter-in-law but still does not want to talk. His father hopes that his son will soon have children but it seems that this is very difficult to achieve.
After getting married, Tanzen dressed more youthfully. Wang Di grew a beard to look more mature. Both tried to change for each other.
Not long after, Tanzen was invited by a Chinese television station to visit and restore a cultural relic. After returning to his hometown, Wang Di and his wife walked hand in hand on the street, attracting the attention of many people.
On this trip back to their hometown, the two made butter cookies for their parents. When calling her son, Wang Di's mother even praised the cookies her daughter-in-law made.
