To proactively respond to storm Trami, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just issued a telegram requesting agencies and units to continue to organize 24/7 duty.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requests the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to continue directing aviation meteorological service providers to strengthen the work of ensuring the quality of meteorological information; continuously monitor the weather situation in the area of responsibility, update forecasts and warnings, as well as provide timely and complete monitoring, forecasting and warning information to users.
Airports, airlines, and flight operations service providers are required to continue to strengthen coordination and closely monitor the storm's developments to have plans to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly in some directly affected localities and ensure flight safety.
At the same time, fully update meteorological information from relevant aviation meteorological agencies and based on the actual situation to deploy necessary response actions, minimize impacts on operations, ensure flight safety, protect people and property of the unit from natural disasters.
For airports located in the storm-affected area, including Dong Hoi Airport, Phu Bai International Airport, Da Nang International Airport and Chu Lai Airport, they are required to immediately deploy plans to prevent rain and storms, measures to prevent flooding, clear the flow in the airport, protect the works, vehicles and equipment at the airport, minimize damage caused by rain and storms and quickly stabilize all aviation activities to serve the needs of passengers.
The storm is not expected to be severe, however there will be heavy rain, which can easily cause local flooding. Therefore, it is necessary to have a plan to raise and position the equipment of the airport and passenger terminal, and regularly check the condition of the equipment to have a solution to ensure that operations are not interrupted.
Due to the complicated developments of storm Trami, airlines are required to coordinate closely with the Weather Warning Center (MWO) to regularly update information on rain and storms. In case of needing to adjust flight schedules, fly early, or make up flights to relieve passengers, they must immediately report to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam for timely handling.
Airlines notify passengers about storms so they can proactively arrange their schedules accordingly.
The Authority also requested airport authorities to monitor the implementation of response measures at relevant airports. In addition, ensure smooth communication with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam’s PCTT&TKCN Command Board and relevant agencies and units within their scope of responsibility to deploy response measures in all situations.
