After a long time without playing for Yokohama FC, striker Nguyen Cong Phuong is said to want to leave to find new opportunities.
Cong Phuong had an impressive match against Palestine on FIFA Day in September 2023.
Commenting on this, the Japanese version of Football Tribe said that if Cong Phuong leaves Yokohama FC, he will certainly be recruited by many V-League teams.
The newspaper of the land of the rising sun pointed out the two most potential destinations for the star born in 1995 are Ho Chi Minh City and Nam Dinh.
“If Cong Phuong decides to return to V-League, he will have many options. It could be Ho Chi Minh City or Nam Dinh, clubs that want to increase their attack strength.
This is also the time when Cong Phuong is faced with two choices. Either continue pursuing his dream in Japan or return to Vietnam as before," wrote Football Tribe.
In the past, "Vietnamese Messi" played abroad three times for Mito Hollyhock (Japan), Incheon United (Korea) and Sint Truidense (Belgium).
Since joining Yokohama FC, Cong Phuong has only played 2 minutes at the Japan League Cup.
Most recently, the former HAGL star was given the opportunity by coach Troussier to play in the match against Palestine and contributed 1 goal.
After the match, the French coach still reminded him to look for opportunities to play for the club.
“Cong Phuong scored. But overall, Phuong’s performance was only acceptable. He scored but lacked the experience of previous matches.
I talked to him and advised him that it would be best to give himself more opportunities in the club environment," said coach Troussier.
