(Dan Tri) - Many Malaysian newspapers are concerned about the fate of their team when they face U23 Vietnam on April 20.
In the opening match, U23 Malaysia suffered a 0-2 defeat against U23 Uzbekistan. This result left the "Tigers" at the bottom of Group D with 0 points. If they continue to lose to U23 Vietnam, U23 Malaysia is at great risk of being eliminated.

Ahead of the match against U23 Vietnam in the second round on April 20, the Malaysian press expressed concern for the fate of the home team. The Bharian newspaper wrote: "Don't repeat the mistake in the match against U23 Vietnam!". The author commented: "After the loss to U23 Uzbekistan, U23 Malaysia only has one chance to win against U23 Vietnam if they want to win a ticket to the next round. If they continue to lose, coach Garrido's team is at great risk of being eliminated. U23 Vietnam is clearly not an easy opponent. They are highly motivated after winning 3-1 against U23 Kuwait. What coach Garrido needs at this time is to hone the attack, to help them know how to score in important matches. In addition, U23 Malaysia needs to avoid the mistakes in the two goals conceded against U23 Uzbekistan, especially the penalty.

That was the fourth penalty that the Malaysian players had to receive in the last three matches. Before that, we conceded three goals from the 11m mark in two matches against U23 China and U23 Qatar before the tournament. Coach Garrido himself admitted that U23 Malaysia still has many things to improve in both attack and defense. The attack must be sharper and find ways to penetrate the opponent's penalty area. The defense needs to play more focused and avoid conceding early goals." Meanwhile, expert Datuk Dr Pekan Ramli is worried about the current situation of U23 Malaysia. He said: "I see that U23 Malaysia's physical strength is a problem. They play too weakly. It's not like the way modern football plays. Elementary mistakes should not appear in such an important tournament. If they do not improve their spirit, U23 Malaysia may not gain any points in the two matches against U23 Vietnam and U23 Kuwait". The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Malaysia will take place at 8:00 p.m. on April 20.
