VTC News e-newspaper won the National Press Award for the development of culture, sports and tourism.

On the evening of September 13, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the first National Press Awards for the Development of Culture, Sports and Tourism .

At the Award Ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 97 prizes, including 3 Collective Prizes to 3 press agencies with many works participating in the award, achieving high results and 94 individual prizes to authors and groups of authors (including 4 First prizes, 15 Second prizes, 25 Third prizes and 50 Encouragement prizes).

VTC News e-newspaper was awarded the Encouragement Prize for a series of articles about Tiktok distorting the lifestyle of young people and corrupting national cultural values by a group of authors Tran Hanh Le, Nguyen Thi Tra, and Lai Thi Cay.

With about 45 million users, TikTok is one of the most popular social networks in Vietnam. In addition to purely entertaining content, this platform has created a favorable environment for fake news to spread, causing economic damage and social instability or encouraging young people to imitate and follow bad and offensive trends, distorting the perception and lifestyle of young people, and corrupting the cultural values of the nation.

The series of articles explores issues of public concern, highlighting the reality of offensive and toxic trends that young people strongly respond to on TikTok such as parody music, superstition, reckless view-baiting, etc.

TikTok’s violations in Vietnam are also a common problem in many countries. To prevent the spread of bad and toxic content, many countries have had clear policies to restrict TikTok, including a complete ban.

From the policies of many countries, VTC News's series of articles recognizes, evaluates the effectiveness and proposes appropriate measures for Vietnam, emphasizing the role of management agencies in restricting and censoring content, requiring the synchronous participation of the political and social systems. Along with that, it is necessary to build a solid technology foundation, raising awareness of society, especially the youth.

The Organizing Committee awarded collective prizes to Nhan Dan Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam Radio, and To Quoc Electronic Newspaper.

The first National Press Award for the Development of Culture, Sports and Tourism was launched on December 26, 2022. The Organizing Committee received 1,084 entries, the largest number of entries for an industry press award held in its first year.

VOV was honored with 12 outstanding works and the award for the unit with many high-ranking winning works in the categories of Radio, Television, and Electronic Newspaper.

Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung presented First Prize to the authors.

3 Second Prizes include: Series of 3 episodes: Photography archives in the digital transformation race of the Literature - Arts Department (VOV6); The work "Vietnamese Fragrance" of the Culture - Society Department (VOV2); The work "The Keepers of the Heritage Soul" of VTC Digital Television Station.

3 Third Prizes include: Series of 5 articles Creating Future Culture - Looking from the Outline of Vietnamese Culture by VOV Online Newspaper; Work "Meter-of-the-moment Couples and Lottery Tickets " by VOV Traffic Channel; Series of 3 episodes "Forever Golden" - Vietnamese Ao Dai by Foreign Affairs Department (VOV5).

6 Consolation Prizes include: Series of 4 articles: Tiktok distorts the lifestyle of young people, corrupts national cultural values by VTC News Electronic Newspaper; The work "The Rock Boy" by the Ethnic Channel (VOV4); Series of 3 articles: Dak Lak tourism recovers after the pandemic by the Central Highlands Regional Office; Series of 3 articles: Overcoming bad customs by the Central Regional Office; Work "Artists with the Youth" by the Music Department (VOV3); Series of 4 articles: Arousing endogenous strength - Realizing the aspiration for a strong Vietnam by the News Department (VOV1).

Evaluating the quality of the entries, the Organizing Committee said that the entries promptly, creatively, and comprehensively addressed the fields of culture - sports - tourism.

Among them, there are many outstanding issues, such as: Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; the value of the 1943 Outline on Culture; the spreading spirit of the 2021 National Cultural Conference and the strong message of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirming the mission of guiding the way of culture; reviving Vietnamese culture; preserving and promoting the value of heritage; unlocking potential, giving advice on tourism development...

Many works are invested in elaborately, methodically, logically, tightly structured, vividly expressed, and skillfully combine theory with practice.

Some works have themes and topics that are not new, but have new perspectives, are close to reality, and delve into specific aspects.

However, the journalistic genres are still limited, mainly reflections, few articles, series of reports, investigative reports, the writing style is still general, not really profound, the quality of explanation is not much, the arguments and comments are not really sharp.
