On April 12, in Dien Bien Phu city (Dien Bien province), Dien Bien Phu Newspaper held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first issue (May 1, 1964 - May 1, 2024).
Attending the ceremony were comrade Le Quoc Minh, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association ; leaders of Dien Bien province; leaders and reporters of central press agencies and 15 local Party press agencies.

On May 1, 1964, Lai Chau Newspaper (the predecessor of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper and today's Lai Chau Newspaper) launched its first issue, published once a week, printed with 4 small pages, and distributed 200 - 300 copies per issue. In November 1997, Dien Bien Phu Newspaper for ethnic minorities in the highlands published its first issue, once a month.
On January 1, 2004, implementing the National Assembly's Resolution on the separation of Lai Chau province into Lai Chau province and Dien Bien province, the newspaper's editorial office was also divided into Lai Chau newspaper and Dien Bien Phu newspaper. On February 3, 2004, Dien Bien Phu electronic newspaper was launched to readers, expanding the influence of the local Party newspaper and its position on a wider scale.

Recently, Dien Bien Phu Newspaper has actively applied information technology, gradually transformed digitally in its professional work; focused on developing the electronic newspaper page, launching an English electronic page with a constantly renewed and upgraded interface, applying modern technology, bringing many conveniences to users. At the same time, effectively exploiting social networking platforms Zalo, Facebook... to attract readers not only in Dien Bien but also across the country. Thereby, demonstrating its role as an official information channel, the voice of the Party Committee, the government, and the forum of the people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province.

Identifying the tasks set for the coming time, comrade Pham Ngoc Han, Editor-in-Chief of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper, expressed his determination with the staff, reporters, and workers to build Dien Bien Phu Newspaper as professional, humane, modern, associated with digital transformation, worthy of being the mouthpiece of the Party Committee with a long history and tradition and with the name Dien Bien Phu, and at the same time a reliable companion of the People.

Acknowledging and appreciating the contributions of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper to the development journey of Vietnam's revolutionary press and the general development of the province in recent times, journalist Le Quoc Minh, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association and comrade Tran Quoc Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee expressed their belief that with the tradition built over the past 60 years, Dien Bien Phu Newspaper will continue to develop and integrate.
Analyzing and clarifying the challenges in the current period, especially the development of digital technology, along with the process of deep integration, the comrades emphasized that Dien Bien Phu Newspaper must constantly improve and innovate both in content and form, and the way of making newspapers, at the same time must build and foster a team of professional journalists with strong political will, sharp professional skills, and improve professional ethics.

On this occasion, Dien Bien Phu Newspaper received a banner from the Provincial Party Executive Committee. Many groups and individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee.

Before that, delegates came to offer flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield Martyrs Temple and A1 National Martyrs Cemetery. (Photo below)
