Delegates attending the 60th Anniversary Ceremony of the first issue of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper.
The celebration was solemnly held at the Provincial Children's House, with the participation of 250 delegates. Comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Comrade Tran Quoc Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; representatives of leaders of a number of departments, branches, sectors, and localities in the province, along with 15 Party Newspaper agencies from provinces and cities in the country attended and congratulated.
Comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association spoke at the ceremony.
The program also had the participation of many former leaders, cadres, civil servants, and employees of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper through the periods.
The speech reviewing the 60-year development and growth of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper presented by Editor-in-Chief Pham Ngoc Han clearly demonstrated that throughout each historical stage, Dien Bien Phu Newspaper has always strived to overcome all difficulties, successfully completed all tasks assigned by the Party and State, as well as the trust and entrustment of the people.

In the early days of its establishment, the newspaper staff were transferred from other departments and branches without any training; the editorial office had only 3 people under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Le Ninh, concurrently the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. In the early years, the newspaper only published one issue per week, small format, 4 pages, printed in tipo, with a very small circulation (only 200-300 copies/issue).

During the 70s and 80s of the last century, the Newspaper gradually matured in all aspects. Especially the early years of the 90s marked the strong development of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper in both quantity and quality. On January 1, 2004, implementing the National Assembly's Resolution on the separation of Lai Chau province into 2 provinces: Lai Chau, Dien Bien, the Newspaper's editorial office was also divided into 2 units: Lai Chau Newspaper and Dien Bien Phu Newspaper. On February 3, 2004, Dien Bien Phu Electronic Newspaper was officially launched to domestic and international readers; expanding the influence of the local Party newspaper and the position of the newspaper on a wider scale.

Especially in recent times, Dien Bien Phu Newspaper has actively applied information technology, gradually transformed digitally in its professional work; focused on developing the electronic newspaper page, launching an electronic English page with a constantly renewed and upgraded interface, applying modern technology, bringing many conveniences to users. At the same time, effectively exploiting social networking platforms: Zalo, Facebook... to attract more and more readers not only in Dien Bien but also across the country. Thereby, demonstrating its role as an official information channel, the voice of the Party Committee, the government, and the forum of the people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province.
Comrade Pham Ngoc Han, Editor-in-Chief of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, reviewed the tradition of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper.
Identifying the tasks set for the coming time, the team of cadres, reporters, and workers will build a professional, humane, modern Dien Bien Phu Newspaper, associated with digital transformation. Worthy of being the mouthpiece of a Party with a long history, worthy of the name Dien Bien Phu, a trustworthy companion of the people.
The focus is on training a team of journalists with strong political will; qualifications, capacity and enthusiasm for the profession; upholding professional ethics... In the immediate future, we will focus on promoting the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory and important events in the province.

Acknowledging and appreciating the contributions of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper to the development journey of Vietnam's revolutionary press as well as the general development of the province in recent times, comrades Le Quoc Minh and Provincial Party Secretary Tran Quoc Cuong also expressed their confidence that with the tradition built over the past 60 years, Dien Bien Phu Newspaper will continue to develop and integrate.
Analyzing and clarifying the challenges in the current period. Especially the development of digital technology, along with the process of deep integration, the comrades emphasized that Dien Bien Phu Newspaper must constantly improve and innovate both in content and form, and the way of making newspapers. At the same time, it is necessary to build and foster a team of professional journalists with strong political will, sharp professional skills, and improve professional ethics.

On the provincial side, comrade Tran Quoc Cuong requested that Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front and local organizations continue to pay attention and create the best conditions for the press agency, cadres, civil servants, public employees and reporters of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper to operate and develop, meeting the requirements of political tasks in the new period.
Comrade Lo Van Mung, Standing Committee Member, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee to collectives and individuals of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper.
On this occasion, the Provincial Party Executive Committee presented a banner to Dien Bien Phu Newspaper with the words "Revolutionary - Creative - Courageous - Professional - Modern". The Provincial People's Committee presented Certificates of Merit to 1 collective and 2 individuals; and presented Commemorative Medals for the development of Dien Bien province to 2 individuals. The Editorial Board of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper presented Certificates of Merit to 3 collectives and 12 individuals./.
