Ensuring traffic safety corridors in rural and mountainous areas

The functional forces of Kim Tan town (Thach Thanh) propagate and remind business households along National Highway 45.

Previously, the situation of people in Kim Tan town (Thach Thanh) encroaching on the road, sidewalks, and holding temporary markets for business posed a potential risk of traffic safety on National Highway 45, Provincial Road 516, and the main roads of the town. Although the authorities have repeatedly organized to handle the violations, the violations still recurred. To end the above situation, the town has developed a plan and simultaneously deployed inspections and handling of violations of encroachment on the road and sidewalks, in order to ensure traffic safety and urban beauty in the area.

To create consensus among the people, the town has organized propaganda, reminding violators to proactively dismantle and return the sidewalks, restoring order and urban beauty. At the same time, organizing households living and doing business along the roads to sign a commitment not to encroach on sidewalks and roadsides to store goods. Chairman of the People's Committee of Kim Tan town Ha Duc Tam said: Implementing the clearance of violations of traffic safety corridors, temporary markets, and flea markets in the town in 2025, right from the first days of the campaign, it has received the support of the majority of people and businesses. After being propagated and reminded, on the roads and streets, many households have proactively dismantled canopies, flower pots, ornamental plants, and tents encroaching on traffic safety corridors and cleaned up their shops so as not to affect the corridors and sidewalks...

To prevent re-encroachment of road safety corridors, the town has coordinated with relevant agencies to install no-stopping and no-parking signs; installed a surveillance camera system to collect images and issue “cold” fines for violations. Every day, the town arranges forces to organize mobile patrols, monitor, inspect, prevent and resolutely handle intentional violations and re-encroachment in a timely manner, determined to build civilized, safe and clean roads.

Since the first months of 2025, Hoang Hoa district has launched a campaign to clear encroachment on road traffic safety corridors and measures to ensure traffic safety on Kim - Quy road, the road from National Highway 1 connecting to National Highway 45 and the expressway, and communes with violations of encroachment on public land and violations of road traffic safety corridors. At the same time, the district has coordinated with relevant departments of the province to install signs and speed bumps at intersections between main roads and branch roads, roundabouts, three-way and four-way intersections. In addition, the communes of Hoang Quy, Hoang Hop, Hoang Phu, Hoang Quy, Hoang Kim, Hoang Xuan, Hoang Giang... have actively promoted on the public address system about the new road with high traffic volume so that people can proactively raise awareness of law enforcement and prevent accidents. Every day, the commune police arrange patrol forces to guide people to participate in traffic in accordance with the law at places where accidents often occur; handle violations of traffic safety order according to regulations. Thereby, gradually raising people's awareness of voluntarily complying with the law, preventing acts of encroachment and re-encroachment of road safety corridors.

Currently, the province has a road system of 23,357km. Of which, National Highway 1,299km, Provincial Road 1,550km, Urban Road 1,021km, Special Road 142km, Rural Road 19,345km. In order to control traffic accidents, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee and localities together with functional forces are actively propagating and disseminating legal regulations on traffic safety and order, public order, ensuring road corridors, and sanctions for violations. The Provincial Traffic Police force regularly coordinates closely with the police of communes and towns to grasp the situation and areas, coordinate patrols to ensure traffic safety in rural and mountainous areas. Along with that, the forces organize patrols, control, detect and strictly handle violations, especially violations that are the direct cause of traffic accidents.
