Báo Tài nguyên Môi trườngBáo Tài nguyên Môi trường20/06/2023

Since then, under the leadership of the Party, the revolutionary press of Vietnam has always accompanied the country and the nation, serving as a core force and playing a pioneering role on the ideological and cultural front, constantly growing stronger in all aspects, and making great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and our people.

Within just five years of its founding, over 50 newspapers and magazines served the revolutionary work of the Indochinese Communist Party, the Annam Communist Party, and various branches of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association. Particularly, at the unification conference of the three organizations and the founding of the Party on February 3, 1930, with Comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc's adoption of a resolution on the press, the Vietnamese revolutionary press officially became a crucial nucleus actively participating in the national liberation revolution and the struggle for independence and freedom.

A landmark event that laid the foundation for the history of Vietnamese journalism.

A glorious era for revolutionary journalism in Vietnam has begun.
In the turbulent flow of the revolution, marked by important milestones such as the wars of resistance to defend the Fatherland, under the leadership of the Party, the press continued to play the role of a special "branch." The pens of soldiers on the ideological and cultural front were not only sharp weapons exposing crimes and condemning the wars of aggression waged by imperialist colonialists, but also served the task of propagating the socialist construction efforts of our people. This period marked the birth of many major press agencies such as: Red Hammer and Sickle, Vietnam Independence, National Salvation, Liberation Flag, Labor, People, People's Army, Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Vietnam Radio, Vietnam Television... These press agencies of this period all aimed at a common goal: the struggle for national liberation.

From the smoke-filled battlefields, news reports, articles, and photographs poured forth. During those years, journalists were the most truthful and timely chroniclers of history. Their journalistic works truthfully reflected the fighting and production lives of our soldiers and people throughout the country, serving as a great source of moral support and a rallying cry for generations of young people to join the fight against the enemy. Many journalistic works became the "call of the nation," urging compatriots across the country to charge forward on all fronts, all for the sake of our beloved homeland. In the resistance war, with its countless difficulties, hardships, and dangers, and the constant threat of death, journalists went to the front lines as soldiers, wielding both pen and gun in combat. Many journalists bravely sacrificed their lives, their blood staining the revolutionary flag.

Following the successful resistance war, the entire nation entered a period of healing the wounds of war, implementing reforms and integration. This is a historically significant stage in the country's development, a process of profound, comprehensive, and thorough transformation of the great revolutionary cause of the entire Party and people, aiming for the goal of "a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, fairness, and civilization." Under the leadership of the Party, our country has achieved important and historically significant accomplishments. The press agencies have effectively fulfilled their role as the mouthpiece of the Party, the State, political , social, and professional organizations, serving as a forum for the people, maintaining political orientation, promptly criticizing and combating outdated and backward elements that hinder innovation, fighting against negative phenomena, corruption, waste, and bad habits in society, combating erroneous views, conspiracies, and tactics of "peaceful evolution" by reactionary and hostile forces, protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland's seas and islands, and contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State, and the socialist regime.

In the context of today's convergence of media technologies, the operations of news organizations are gradually shifting towards a multimedia model, implementing various forms of journalism, providing numerous media-related services, and meeting the increasingly high and diverse information needs of the public. Furthermore, technology-driven journalism and the trend of using artificial intelligence and providing cross-border content continue to be key technological trends in journalism in the future. Mobile journalism is changing the information consumption habits of the public. Listening to, reading, and watching online news is shifting from passive to active, forming a trend based on technology, providing, disseminating, and connecting information...

Journalism is gradually shifting towards a multimedia model.

Never before have we had such a diverse range of journalistic forms and such a large number of writers as we do today. However, never before has there been such a chaotic state of content quality, a decline in talent, and a deterioration in journalistic ethics as there is now. These "rotten apples" have been and are still "spoiling the barrel," seriously affecting the quality of revolutionary journalism.

There have been inconsistencies, mistakes, and setbacks that require a realignment and revitalization of the journalistic workforce so that journalism can develop in the right direction, be healthier, more useful, avoid overlapping and wasteful use of both human and material resources, and limit and prevent misconduct and negativity in journalistic activities.

Decision No. 362/QD-TTg on the restructuring of press agencies has been basically implemented. Decision No. 1321/QD-TTg on the planning for the development of the network of press, radio, television, electronic information, and publishing facilities for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, has set out the policy of supporting press agencies, including financial, human resources, and infrastructure issues, as well as issues related to press models, helping the press better fulfill its mission, promoting the development of press agencies with strong brands, a long history, a large readership, and the ability to guide public opinion according to set goals.

Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 348/QD-TTg approving the Strategy "Digital Transformation of Journalism by 2025, with a vision to 2030". The digital transformation of journalism aims to build media organizations in a professional, humane, and modern direction; to effectively fulfill the mission of information and propaganda serving the revolutionary cause of the Party and the country's reform; to improve the reader's experience; to ensure the leading role in guiding public opinion and maintaining information sovereignty in cyberspace…

A new opportunity is emerging, which also means new challenges that require change to keep up with the trends of the times.
Despite remaining limitations and difficulties, the 98-year tradition of accompanying the revolution is the most convincing evidence of the quality and the basis for placing trust in the team of journalists in our country. At the National Conference summarizing press work in 2022 and implementing tasks for 2023, leaders of the Party, State, ministries, central and local agencies affirmed that information in the press clearly demonstrates a leading, proactive, timely, and effective role in disseminating information about important issues and events of the country. Many press agencies have actively inspired courage and dedication to the community and the country; encouraged innovation, entrepreneurship, and wealth creation for the common good of the people and businesses; and promoted the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style.

Recognizing 2023 as a pivotal year in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, press agencies and journalists nationwide have been actively implementing numerous solutions to "build a professional, humane, and modern press and media," maintaining their pioneering role and mission in providing official information, guiding public opinion, and accompanying the cause of national construction and defense.

In response to the demands of the revolutionary tasks in the new era, and upholding the glorious tradition of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, the entire team of journalists nationwide are constantly striving to improve their political acumen, enhance their professional skills, uphold professional ethics, strengthen unity, and work together wholeheartedly to build a professional, modern, combative, and humane press for the benefit of the country and its people.
