According to the regular newsletter of the Vietnam Association of Realtors (VARs) on June 15, 30 years ago, the 1993 Land Law was issued, allowing easier transfer of land use rights. The real estate market was officially formed.

Since then, along with the economic development process, the real estate market has increasingly demonstrated its great and important role in the economy, receiving special attention from people, investors as well as policy makers.

Specifically, in recent years, the contribution of real estate activities to the gross domestic product (GDP) has tended to increase, with the average contribution of the construction and real estate industries to the country's total GDP in recent years accounting for about 10%.

The real estate market simultaneously affects 40 different sectors and industries. Therefore, it is required to always follow closely and update information to be able to control well.

According to VARs, in the context of strong development of information technology as today, the press is not only a channel to provide information, spread comments, reflections, and recommendations of people, real estate businesses, state management agencies, professional social organizations, etc., but also plays an extremely important role in shaping and developing the real estate market.

The transparency, honesty and professionalism of the press contribute to supporting the real estate market to develop in a more transparent and stable direction.

Media and press agencies act as a bridge, providing and disseminating reports, analysis and comments on the market situation, including information on market movements, trends, supply and demand, prices, etc.

At the same time, the press is the unit that disseminates the State's policies and laws, helping people and investors grasp them promptly.

The press is also the unit that investigates and reports on cases that negatively affect the real estate market, related to fraud and cheating in buying, selling and investing, helping to protect consumers.

In addition, the press also provides articles with instructions and experiences on buying, selling, investing and managing real estate; publishes in-depth analysis, from a multi-dimensional perspective of leading experts in the industry, helping readers better understand the complex aspects of the market, helping buyers have a clearer view, contributing to increasing transparency, efficiency and predictability for the Vietnamese real estate market.

The press also plays a symbiotic role, being an important channel for investors and real estate businesses to introduce and promote new projects to customers.

Through articles and advertisements in newspapers, businesses will increase brand awareness and attract the attention of potential customers.

On the contrary, through media channels, customers can easily access information about projects and businesses quickly and completely.

In addition, the press also supports state management agencies in the policy-making process, acting as a bridge between market actors and the State.

Accordingly, the press is a channel that reflects public opinions and aspirations regarding mechanisms and policies related to the real estate sector, thereby influencing the Government's policy planning and adjustment.

This is also the unit that organizes/coordinates seminars, conferences, and discussion forums between experts, investors, and the Government on issues related to real estate, contributing to building a healthy and sustainable market.

Actively contribute to the Ministry of Construction and other ministries in completing amendments and supplements to the Law on Real Estate Business,... and sub-law documents such as Decrees, Circulars... related to the real estate market.

Avoid the phenomenon of "sensational headlines", "view baiting", causing public confusion

In fact, over the past time, the press has accompanied throughout the process of giving comments on the draft Law on Land, Law on Real Estate Business and Law on Housing.

Through the newspaper's website, as well as seminars and forums, a series of comments from organizations, experts, scientists, managers, the business community, people nationwide and overseas Vietnamese have been directly/indirectly contributed to the Government.

In addition, the press is also an agency that has a strong influence on the psychology and behavior of investors, and can create or promote trends. Therefore, to maximize the role of the press, actively contributing to the orientation and healthy development of the market, VARs believe that press and media agencies need to "respect the truth" and honestly reflect market issues.

According to the VARs’ recommendations, the press should avoid sensational headlines and “clickbaiting” that cause public confusion. Information should be updated regularly and continuously, ensuring topicality and timeliness, with multi-dimensional perspectives, so that readers have enough basis to perceive and evaluate all issues with certainty.

At the same time, promote propaganda and encourage market components to actively respond to activities in accordance with the Government's direction and comply with the law.

Finally, VARs believe that press agencies need to actively exploit and reflect information from many quality and official sources (state management agencies, experts in all fields, businesses, customers, investors, etc.) to enrich information and data related to the real estate market.
