On the morning of June 20, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Voice of Vietnam Radio held a press conference for the third week of June 2023.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia; Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; Minister of Information and Communications, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Manh Hung; Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Le Quoc Minh; General Director of the Voice of Vietnam Do Tien Sy and Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Tran Thanh Lam co-chaired the Conference.

The conference took place on the occasion of the 98th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023) with two main discussion contents: Initial assessment of the launch and implementation of the emulation movement "Building a cultural environment in press agencies" and implementation of the plan to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

Expressing his joy at attending the press conference to celebrate the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, on behalf of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia sent best wishes to journalists nationwide, wishing Vietnamese revolutionary journalists "sharp pen, pure heart", to fulfill their roles, responsibilities and professional missions well to contribute worthily to the cause of building, protecting and developing the country.

Praising the achievements that the press nationwide has achieved in recent times, especially in propaganda work, bringing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress into life, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department emphasized that the Party, the State, and the whole society always pay attention to the press, and at the same time acknowledge the role, mission, and important contributions of the press in information and propaganda work.

During the past half term, the press has done a good job of informing and propagating the implementation of political tasks, important events and issues, the socio-economic situation, culture, education, health, national defense, security and foreign affairs of the country, creating highlights and strong spread, contributing to orienting public opinion.

The press has closely followed the developments of social life; provided responsible information, both fulfilling political tasks and basically meeting the people's information needs; demonstrated the role of orientation and proactively leading information. The political awareness and political sensitivity of press agencies and journalists are increasingly better, not competing for information but providing information easily and superficially on social networks.

In addition, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department highly appreciated the fact that many press agencies have researched, innovated, applied many modern working methods, presented information content in new and modern forms, thereby creating friendliness in accessing information for readers and audiences, and mastering the new media space.

Along with the achieved results, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department also noted a number of existing problems and limitations that press agencies and press management agencies need to pay attention to and find immediate solutions to overcome.

The press must truly become a bridge between the Party, the State and the people; must contribute to building the bravery, intelligence, soul and spirit of Vietnam.

Press agencies need to develop a thorough and thoughtful propaganda plan to prepare for Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress, while paying more attention to building a cultural environment in press agencies and cultured journalists.

The direction and management of the press must be more proactive, timely, and practical in directing and orienting information, while continuing to seriously and effectively rectify and handle violations and mistakes in press activities; actively research solutions to support and create conditions for the press to develop healthily and in the right direction.

Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized that over the 98 years since President Ho Chi Minh founded and led the Vietnamese revolutionary press, it has always accompanied and made important contributions to the revolutionary struggles of the Party and people, in protecting national independence, building socialism, and successfully implementing the renovation policy initiated and led by the Party.

The Deputy Prime Minister respectfully expressed his deep gratitude to all journalists and press agencies nationwide who have been proactive, active, and made efforts to accompany the Government; hoping that the press will continue to more strongly arouse the aspirations, spirit of overcoming difficulties, and will to rise up of each citizen and business, encourage the spirit of innovation; and add positive energy for the entire political system and all people to overcome difficulties and challenges, and successfully achieve the socio-economic development goals of 2023.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the press needs to perform well its role as a sharp policy communication tool, as well as an effective means of social supervision and criticism. The press truly becomes a bridge between the Party, the State and the people, a propagandist, guider and encourager of the people to implement the Party and State's guidelines and policies, and at the same time a broad social forum for the people to promote democracy, the role of mastery, supervision and social criticism.

The conference listened to Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Tran Thanh Lam present the plan to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Lam, after 98 years of establishment and development, Vietnam now has more than 800 press agencies with a strong team of more than 41,000 journalists. The year 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, an event of special political and professional significance for the press and journalists.

With that meaning, the Central Propaganda Department presided over and coordinated with the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association and relevant agencies to develop a Plan to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025) to contribute to widely disseminating the glorious tradition and great contributions of Vietnam revolutionary press; honoring and praising journalists with many achievements and contributions.

The Organizing Committee has a master plan with main contents revolving around the propaganda themes: "The press is a sharp ideological weapon, the voice of the Party, the State, socio-political organizations, and a trusted forum for the People"; "Building a professional, humane and modern press and media"; "Building a cultural press environment and cultural journalists".

The highlight of the celebration is the National Celebration Ceremony on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day; the Conference "Meeting and honoring exemplary journalists for the second time"; compiling the book series "100 years of Vietnam Revolutionary Press"; making a documentary film on 100 years of Vietnam Revolutionary Press.

Given the importance of the event, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Tran Thanh Lam requested press and media agencies to improve the quality of propaganda on press activities; build columns and topics on the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day; research, explore, innovate to improve the efficiency, quality of press activities and products, meeting the requirements of the practical situation...

Reporting at the Conference on the implementation of the emulation movement "Building a cultural environment in press agencies", Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi said that many press agencies, journalist associations, and journalist associations have actively responded to the movement associated with studying and following the ideology, morality, and style of Ho Chi Minh. Many levels of the Journalists Association and press agencies from the central to local levels have had many good, practical, and effective models.

To effectively and practically implement the movement in the coming time, the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association requested that all levels of the association, press agencies, and press management agencies need to focus on linking the content of the emulation movement with the political responsibility of the unit in each specific period.

In particular, attach importance to inspection and supervision at all levels of the association to promptly commend and reward exemplary collectives, individuals, association organizations and members; rectify and remind units that have not performed well, and remove difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process.
