Typhoon Bebinca hits Shanghai, will Vietnamese tourists traveling to China be affected?

On the morning of September 17, according to a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, many travel companies said they had prepared plans to respond to storm Bebinca making landfall in Shanghai, China.

According to statistics from relevant departments of Vietravel Tourism Company, as of September 21, there were a total of nearly 30 groups with about 900 customers on tour and preparing to depart to China for sightseeing and vacation.

Currently, Vietravel is serving 18 groups of Chinese tourists, including 5 groups with about 100 guests who are on a tour to some provinces and cities such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou in China that are at risk of being affected by storm Bebinca. The number of groups preparing to depart to China is 19 groups with about 500 guests.

For the safety of our guests, we have implemented flexible plans to ensure that our guests' itineraries are not disrupted and to minimize risks.

"Currently, 5 groups of tourists are still on a safe tour and vacation schedule, their tour schedule has been temporarily suspended due to the impact of storm Bebinca and they are being arranged to rest at accommodation facilities that have been inspected and guaranteed to be safe. Vietravel will provide maximum support in terms of services such as organizing early flights and assisting customers during their travel," said Ms. Nguyen Nguyet Van Khanh, Director of Marketing Department of Vietravel.

For 19 tourist groups preparing to depart for China, Vietravel said that it is actively monitoring closely every development of storm Bebinca to deploy necessary measures, urgently coordinating closely with partners and authorities in China to assess the situation and propose appropriate solutions for these tourist groups. For some cases of force majeure, our team of consultants will propose to customers some new tour routes (if customers specifically request).

Saigontourist Travel Service Company also informed that some group tours and some individual tours scheduled for Shanghai - Suzhou - Hangzhou departing from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang are affected by the storm in China. The company is actively working with agencies, partners in China and tour guides to regularly update the situation and coordinate the most appropriate and safest solutions.

In order to not disrupt tourism activities and ensure the best conditions for organizing tours and serving tourists, Saigontourist Travel will arrange suitable routes and continue to update the situation for ongoing tours.

"For tours scheduled to depart, in case of unsafe conditions, the company will adjust the tour departure time accordingly," said Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Tra, Marketing and Communications Director of Saigontourist Travel.

Many other travel companies such as Vietluxtour, TSTtourist, BenThanh Tourist, Vinagroup... are also closely monitoring the storm situation in Shanghai to have response plans and build tour schedules.

BenThanh Tourist said it is in close contact with partners and suppliers to update the situation, ensure safety and tour quality for customers with a MICE group of 300 people scheduled to depart on September 19. At present, the company has no groups affected by the storm.
