This afternoon, December 25, Acting Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, Ha Sy Dong, chaired a meeting of the council to appraise the land use plan of Ben Hai Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. (Ben Hai Forestry Company).

According to the report of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Ben Hai Forestry Company is currently managing and using production forest land, protective forest land, other agricultural land, commercial and service land, traffic land, river and stream land with a total area of 8,532.8 hectares, located in 6 communes and 1 town of Vinh Linh district.
Based on the appraisal report of the land use plan of Ben Hai Forestry Company, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment proposed to approve the plan for the company to continue to retain and use 5,878.2 hectares, of which, production forest land is 5,675.3 hectares, protective forest land is 102.1 hectares, other agricultural land is 5.2 hectares and commercial and service land is 4.6 hectares.
Handed over to the locality 2,745.6 hectares, including production forest land, protection forest land, traffic land, river and stream land. In addition, the company has a plan to transfer 319.4 hectares of less vulnerable upstream protection forest to the production forest development planning to supplement the company's production land area, but up to now, the procedures have not been completed.
Therefore, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment requested Ben Hai Forestry Company to quickly complete procedures to change the purpose of protective forest land to production forest according to the provisions of the current Land Law.
Concluding the meeting, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong requested relevant units to absorb comments and contributions at the meeting, paying attention to unifying data between localities, companies and departments and branches to edit the plan fully and accurately.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment shall preside over the implementation of each specific decision on land and protective forest recovery assigned to the Ben Hai River Protection Forest Management Board for management; recover land and forest from households that have cultivated for a long time and return them to the locality for consideration and resolution for people to continue managing and using. At the same time, recover land from Ben Hai Forestry Company and hand it over to the locality according to Resolution 29 of the Provincial People's Council.
After the plan has been approved, Ben Hai Forestry Company is required to take full responsibility for the accuracy, boundaries, organization of handover and handling of land encroachment issues.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Vinh Linh District are assigned to coordinate with Ben Hai Forestry Company to carefully review the plan before submitting it to the Provincial People's Committee for approval. The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for guiding the company in carrying out procedures and providing records and documents on administrative boundaries. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quang Tri will coordinate with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quang Binh to clarify the area of overlapping land, thereby advising the Provincial People's Committee to handle it thoroughly.
