As part of a series of activities to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024) and the 138th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2024), the blue beret doctors of Vietnam's Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 had many meaningful activities.
The trip started with a volunteer trip to Bentiu Girls Primary School in Bentiu, Unity State, South Sudan on April 26.
The school is being rebuilt with UNICEF support from war-torn houses.
Bentiu - where the 5th Level 2 Field Hospital is based - is one of the most volatile and unstable places in South Sudan.
The lives of the people here are extremely difficult, almost dependent on subsidies from the United Nations.
The assistance of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 this time has increased the resonance of humanitarian significance from United Nations organizations for indigenous people and is highly appreciated by local authorities and United Nations organizations operating here.

In addition, there are 20 gifts for teachers teaching at the school, along with some support for the school board to overcome difficulties in teaching, including stationery.
The Youth and Women's Group of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 turned the volunteer program into a big festival day in the school, including games such as tug of war, jumping rope, teaching hand washing and personal hygiene...
The women's group also prepared 40 liters of milk tea and some cakes to send to the children to enjoy.
Dr. Nguyen Ha Ngoc - Director of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 - said that organizing charity programs on the occasion of April 30 is a series of activities to remember the contributions of our army and people in the cause of national liberation.
Moreover, the program is an opportunity for staff of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 to approach local people, perform meaningful work, promote and build the image of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends.
From there, each staff member in Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 will see and appreciate more the value of freedom and independence, and understand and be more proud of their mission and activities when participating in the peacekeeping force.
"The images and sympathetic actions from the Vietnamese blue beret soldiers, the handshakes or farewells to the children and teachers when leaving have made us feel more proud of our nation, love more the heroic things of our army and people, and appreciate more the stability and unity of the country...", Dr. Ngoc shared more.
