Since childhood, Ngo Quoc Duy has loved helping people. Seeing that the medical field was suitable for him, he chose to become a doctor. After graduating from high school, Duy passed the entrance exam and studied at Hanoi Medical University.

With his talent and hard work, he graduated with honors in General Medicine and continued his residency in Oncology. In 2016, after 9 years of medical school, Dr. Ngo Quoc Duy officially started working at K Hospital.

Dr. Ngo Quoc Duy is 35 years old this year, currently Deputy Head of the Department of Head and Neck Surgery, K Hospital. He is a person with great achievements and contributions in the medical treatment of the thyroid gland, with the first report in Southeast Asia being the successful implementation of the technique of robotic thyroidectomy through the oral vestibule in the treatment of thyroid cancer.

This is a milestone marking the development of the surgical profession in general, as well as in the field of thyroid surgery in particular in Vietnam.

The male doctor is always humble when talking about his achievements and expresses his luck and honor to be a student of his teacher - Professor, Dr. Le Van Quang, Director of K Hospital.

“He not only imparted knowledge and professional techniques in the operating room and in the classroom, but also inspired, motivated, encouraged, and accompanied his students, so that we would always strive to do our best. In addition, he also taught us about communication, how to live, how to treat people, especially patients, so that we could constantly improve ourselves,” Duy shared.

Scientific research is the "compass"

He realized that medicine is always developing and making more and more progress in diagnosing and treating diseases in general, and cancer in particular. Researching and updating new diagnostic tools and treatment techniques to help improve survival time as well as enhance the quality of life for cancer patients is extremely necessary.

For that reason, young doctors always consider the path of scientific research as a "compass" to have the opportunity to help more people recover from illness.

Dr. Ngo Quoc Duy said that he himself encountered many difficulties in medical research, especially in the clinical field. Research is often conducted on patients. Therefore, ensuring research ethics in medicine is very important and sometimes difficult.

However, with the aim of finding new diagnostic and treatment methods and new surgical techniques to help bring the highest treatment efficiency, he always tries his best and persistently pursues his passion to achieve the best research results.

The job always requires effort and hard work every day. According to Dr. Duy, K Hospital is very crowded with patients. Each case helps him grow professionally and each healthy patient gives him more motivation to do his job.

Dr. Ngo Quoc Duy has 62 published scientific articles, including 29 scientific articles in prestigious international journals. He received the Golden Globe Science and Technology Award in 2023.

Previously, he was awarded: Creative Youth Badge; Advanced Youth Badge following Uncle Ho's teachings; Excellent Award at the 21st Conference on Science and Technology for Youth in the Medical Industry; Dang Van Ngu Award for Outstanding Young Researcher in 2022 of Hanoi Medical University; Global Scholarship for Head and Neck Cancer Surgery and Cancer of the World Head and Neck Cancer Association in 2022.
