As of February 2025, nearly 100 solid houses have been donated by Bac Ninh province to poor households and people in difficult circumstances. After just over 2 months of simultaneous support, Bac Ninh has basically completed the peak phase of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
During the Lunar New Year, a joyful atmosphere spreads throughout the small house of Ms. Dang Thi Huong, An Dong village (Lac Ve commune, Tien Du district). As a poor single-parent household, Ms. Huong has lived alone for many years in a dilapidated level 4 house but has not had the means to repair it.
With a support fund of 100 million VND from the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses of Bac Ninh province, in early December 2024, Ms. Huong started to rebuild a new house on the old land. After more than 1 month of construction, the solid house with an area of 40m2 including 3 main rooms, 1 kitchen and a closed toilet was completed in time for the Lunar New Year. For Ms. Huong, this year is the most memorable time of her life when she can welcome the New Year in a spacious and warm house. Everyone's sharing also gives her more motivation to live happily and healthily in her old age.
Also in January 2025, the first house in Gia Binh district under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses was inaugurated and handed over to the household of Ms. Ngo Thi Lanh, Du Trang village (Giang Son commune). The house has an area of 72m2, with a total construction cost of 257 million VND, of which Bac Ninh province supported 100 million VND, paternal and maternal relatives and children contributed over 100 million VND, the rest was borrowed and contributed by the family. In addition, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and local sectors and organizations donated more than 50 working days and essential items such as televisions, rice cookers, digital receivers, etc.
In the joy of the new house, Mrs. Lanh was very happy and excited because after many years of living in temporary housing, the family's dream of a solid house had come true. This year, that happiness was doubled when the family gathered together to celebrate Tet in the new, spacious house. The new house also gave the whole family more confidence and motivation to work and gradually escape poverty.
These are two of dozens of solid houses that Bac Ninh province has built for poor households and households in difficult circumstances during the recent Lunar New Year. Sharing the results of the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh province Tran Xuan Nhien said that after reviewing, the whole province has 133 households in need of support to repair and rebuild houses. Of which, 110 households are newly built, 23 households are repaired and renovated with a total support cost of over 12 billion VND.
To achieve the goal of completely eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, Bac Ninh province has established a Steering Committee, launched the movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province", calling on the community to join hands to support and help households in difficult circumstances to eliminate temporary, dilapidated and degraded houses. Since the beginning of December 2024, nearly 100 houses have been built and repaired, each case has been supported with 100 million VND, and the repaired house is supported with 50 million VND.
With the responsible participation of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots level, Bac Ninh has basically completed the peak phase of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. The process of building houses for poor households has the participation of the government, organizations, and local people to ensure objectivity and transparency. In addition to the resources to support housing construction from the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses of the province, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has coordinated with the government and organizations to mobilize people to help with labor days and materials for poor households to build new houses. With this effective approach, many poor households in difficult circumstances have built and renovated new houses with an amount of money many times larger than the support.
