According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia, in the first 9 months of 2023, Australia's garment imports decreased by 11.5% compared to the same period in 2022.
However, the value of Australian textile imports from Vietnam increased by 10% compared to the same period last year.
According to statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, exports of this industry to Australia after 10 months increased by 8% compared to the same period in 2022 and increased by 38.2% compared to the same period in 2021.
The trade department assessed that the 8% increase in textile and garment export turnover is not only meaningful in the current context but also ensures the maintenance of the textile and garment export turnover that has achieved a breakthrough in the past 2 years (this year it is maintained at nearly 500 million USD).
Along with that, the 17.6% increase in textile and footwear materials also opens up a new direction for export and cooperation in the industry between the two countries.
