According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple continues to be the leading manufacturer in the high-end smartphone segment with a market share of 71%. However, this figure has decreased slightly compared to the market share of 75% in 2022.
The high-end smartphone market is becoming more and more exciting. |
Sales of the high-end smartphone segment (priced above $600) in 2023 increased by 6% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, it accounted for 25% of sales as well as 60% of revenue of the entire smartphone industry in 2023.
Samsung maintained its second position in the premium smartphone segment with a market share of 17%, up 1% from 2022. Meanwhile, Huawei's market share increased from 3% to 5% in the same period, according to Counterpoint. Xiaomi and Oppo took the remaining two positions with market shares of 2% and 1%, respectively.
Experts say much of the growth in the global premium smartphone segment in 2023 will be driven by users in markets such as China, India, Western Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In addition to the high-end smartphone segment, the ultra-high-end segment (selling price over 1,000 USD) has also been growing continuously in recent times. This segment accounts for more than 30% of total sales in the high-end market in 2023.
“The premium segment will continue to grow faster than the overall global smartphone market. Manufacturers will also benefit from this growth,” Counterpoint Research said.
