Apple guides 4 ways to extend iPhone battery life

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên01/09/2023

Battery life is the amount of time a battery can last before it needs to be replaced. iPhone rechargeable batteries typically last a long time, but this depends on ambient temperature, how the battery is charged, damage from dropping it, or a faulty battery.

If you're not sure what to do to help extend your iPhone's battery life, here are four tips from Apple that will help keep your iPhone from needing a battery replacement sooner.

First, your iPhone’s battery can get stressed when it’s charged to 100%. To help combat this, the iPhone has a setting that learns from your daily charging habits—like if you always plug it in before bed and then unplug it in the morning—so it waits to charge to 80% until right before you need it, instead of trying to quickly charge to 100%.

This can help reduce battery aging. While this setting is enabled by default, it's worth checking to make sure it's enabled. Go to Settings, go to Battery > Battery Health & Charging, and make sure Optimized Battery Charging is turned on.

Next, limit your iPhone's exposure to high temperatures. High temperatures speed up the chemical reactions inside the battery, forcing it to work harder and faster, which causes the battery to degrade faster.

According to Apple, it is important to avoid exposing your iPhone to temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius to avoid damage. If you are at the beach, do not leave your iPhone in direct sunlight, but place it in a pocket or under a jacket or hat for protection. Also, do not leave your iPhone in your car for long periods of time, especially on hot days. Apple also has a number of settings to prevent overheating and damage, such as turning off the phone or preventing the iPhone from overheating.

If your iPhone gets hot while charging, you should remove the case before charging. Many users prefer a bulky case to better protect their device, but this can trap heat and cause the iPhone to overheat, affecting the battery life.

If you have purchased a new iPhone and want to store your old iPhone but still maintain the battery life, Apple recommends charging it at around 50%, because a full battery will also cause the device to stop charging, while a depleted battery will reduce the battery life. At the same time, you should turn off the power and store the phone in a cool, dry environment. If you store your iPhone for more than 6 months, turn it on and charge the battery at 50% every half year.
