XINHUA. China's domestically developed large narrow-body aircraft C919 has made its first commercial flight, marking an important milestone for the country in the civil aviation market.

ANADOLU. Based on preliminary results, incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the second round of the presidential election with 52.14% of the vote, according to the head of Türkiye's Supreme Election Council (CEC) Ahmet Ener.
BBC. Russia is ready for peace talks with Ukraine but will not give up on its conditions, according to an interview with Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin.
For Russia, two things are important. First, there is no threat from Ukraine to Russia. Second, Russians in Ukraine will be treated like all other countries in the world, "like the French are treated in Belgium or like the Italians and Germans are treated in Switzerland". |
DPA. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow was forced to retaliate against Berlin's anti-Russian measures, but would not initiate any unfriendly actions.
UKRINFORM. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced that the Swedish-made Archer FH77 BW L52 155mm self-propelled artillery system will be delivered to Kiev this summer.
EUTERS. The multinational exercise “ Sabre Guardian 23 ” with the participation of 13 countries, including the United States, will take place in Romania from May 29 to June 9.
AFP. The charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced that its Geo Barents ship had rescued nearly 600 migrants from an overloaded boat that had run into trouble off the coast of Sicily, Italy.

CNN. US President Joe Biden and Republican lawmakers have reached an agreement in principle to prevent a default.
AFP. Nearly 9,000 sea lions , penguins, otters and small marine mammals have died in an outbreak of bird flu, according to Chile's fisheries agency (Sernapesca).
AP. The Brazilian government said the United Nations has confirmed the city of Belem on the edge of the Amazon rainforest as the venue for the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) in November 2025.

AFP. Côte d'Ivoire has reached an agreement on a loan of 2.602 billion SDR (about 3.5 billion USD) from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to maintain macroeconomic stability in the short term, promote deeper economic transformation and move the country into the group of upper-middle-income countries in the medium term.
REUTERS. Saudi Arabia and the United States have called on all parties to extend the ceasefire in Sudan after it expired on the night of May 29.
DAILY NEWS EGYPT. Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi called on the international community to support the efforts of Sudan's neighbors to resolve the conflict and its humanitarian consequences in the East African country.
AL MAYADEEN. Equatorial Guinea's Ambassador to Russia Luciano Nkogo Ndong Ayekaba has denied a Wall Street Journal report that China is planning to establish its first permanent military base there.
NEWS24. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed a team to investigate US allegations that a Russian ship collected weapons from a naval base near Cape Town last year.
REUTERS. From 2024, Somali voters will elect their president and other officials through direct voting , ending indirect voting in the Horn of Africa country.
PTI. At least 16 people were killed and three injured in a serious traffic accident on the Douala-Edea highway in the Littoral region, according to Cameroon Transport Minister Ngalle Bibehe.
CNN. The Ugandan military has sent a team of experts to investigate the attack carried out by the Al-Shabaab militant group on May 26 on its peacekeeping forces in Somalia.
AFRICA NEWS. Nearly 300 million people in Africa are undernourished, equivalent to more than 20% of the continent's population, according to the African Union (AU) Commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development, Green Economy and Sustainable Environment Josefa Sacko.
