Mr. Eric Yeo, Country Manager, AWS Vietnam shared 4 key predictions to revolutionize the way businesses operate and innovate in Vietnam.
With the pace of change accelerating, fueled by advances in cloud technology, machine learning and generative AI, the coming years promise unprecedented opportunities for growth and innovation across industries.
First, the advent and transformational impact of AI-powered coding assistants. These assistants not only streamline the coding process but also empower developers to focus on creativity and complex problem solving. With the rise of generative AI, AI coding assistants will play a key role in the coming technological revolution, helping Vietnamese developers approach challenges in a more innovative way.
2024 will also mark the rise of femtech, a growing field that addresses women’s health needs. In Japan, service solutions such as birth control subscriptions and disposable menstrual cups are already being adopted, and they will gradually become popular in Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam. The development of femtech will not only benefit women, but also change and enhance the entire healthcare system around the world.
Next, university education is undergoing an incredible transformation, in line with today's pace of technological advancement. Since 2017, AWS has trained more than 50,000 students in Vietnam with more than 70 free digital training courses in Vietnamese on cloud platforms, machine learning, data analytics, etc.
Finally, Eric emphasized the cultural awareness of generative AI, and the importance of incorporating cultural fluency into AI models. Today, 46% of large language models use English, and are heavily influenced by Western culture, typically in the United States. For large language models to reach a global audience, they need to have a cultural influence that resonates with people in their native language.
For example, Arcanic AI, an innovative startup, has developed an all-in-one AI platform specifically for businesses in Vietnam. Leveraging Amazon SageMaker and incorporating Vietnamese data, Arcanic AI is helping companies across the country, from startups to enterprises, harness the power of AI to drive growth and innovation.
On this occasion, Ms. Laura Nguyen, Co-founder of Arcanic AI, expressed her excitement about the company's journey and the collaboration with AWS: "We are delighted to leverage AWS technology to support businesses in Vietnam with AI solutions that are relevant and personalized to their needs. Thanks to the ASEAN GenAI Reactor support program from AWS, we were able to quickly launch Arcanic AI, a Vietnamese language model, developed and optimized by a Vietnamese team and using data in Vietnam as well as meeting the standards and requirements of the state on Vietnamese customs and traditions".
Furthermore, as we move towards the era of generative AI, the importance of a robust infrastructure cannot be understated, according to Eric. That is why AWS recently introduced Graviton4, the latest addition to the Graviton family, along with Trainium2 and Inferentia2, which are purpose-built for training and inferencing machine learning models at four times the processing speed of their predecessors.
“In Vietnam, we continue to invest heavily to support customer needs and help grow the country’s digital economy,” said Eric Yeo, Country Manager, AWS Vietnam. “AWS is committed to Vietnam and has made significant infrastructure investments, including two Edge Locations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (announced in August 2022) and AWS Global Accelerator (October 2022), followed by the launch of AWS OutPosts in November 2021. In February 2022, we also announced plans to launch a new AWS Local Zone in Hanoi.”
With these infrastructure investments, local customers can run their applications and serve end users with ultra-low latency, leveraging advanced AWS technologies to drive innovation, according to an AWS Vietnam representative.
