More than two-thirds of respondents said AI programs and technologies like ChatGPT would have a positive impact on training and upskilling their workforce.
Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology will create more jobs, rather than causing mass layoffs, according to a survey of 2,000 employers by recruitment giant Manpower.
The survey found that more than half of the companies surveyed said AI would help increase their company's workforce in the next two years. This is in stark contrast to concerns that AI will lead to massive job cuts and that machines will replace humans .
Rahul Kumar, director of recruitment firm Experis, which conducted the survey, said the mood among recruiters was largely conflicted when asked whether AI would have a negative impact on the future of work.
However, Mr Kumar said businesses need to hire employees to build skills internally, with the expectation of using AI and machine learning more effectively to drive innovation and create efficiency.
He shared that through surveys, many customers expressed their desire to invest in this new technology field and further explore the meaning of AI for business. That is why there is an improvement in job prospects, rather than a reduction in the size of the job.
Not only will it create more jobs , according to Mr. Kumar, AI will also make a difference in the structure of jobs and skills.
More than two-thirds of respondents said AI programs and technologies like ChatGPT would have a positive impact on training and upskilling their workforce.
But in the tech sector, recent breakthroughs in AI have led to a downturn for many companies, especially in a context of rising interest rates and tightening consumer spending, creating huge pressure on businesses.
The Experis leader added that the survey shows that many businesses are looking to use AI to recruit and retain workers rather than replace them.
Two-thirds of business owners said they believe broader employee engagement will also improve with wider use of AI./.
