On September 27, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said that ADB has approved a $2 million grant to support Vietnam in providing emergency and humanitarian relief services to people affected by storm No. 3 (international name: storm Yagi).

The funds come from the Asia-Pacific Disaster Response Fund, designed to provide assistance to ADB's developing member countries affected by major natural disasters.
“We commend the extraordinary efforts of the government and people of Vietnam in responding to the devastation caused by the storm,” said ADB Country Director for Vietnam Shantanu Chakraborty. “ADB’s assistance will support the government’s broader response efforts to provide immediate humanitarian relief.”
ADB has been working with other development partners to support the government’s response to the disaster, including assessing needs in the affected northern provinces. ADB’s emergency response aims to help ensure that people living in the disaster areas have access to basic health and social services, as well as resources to rebuild their lives and livelihoods, and will continue to work closely with the government and other development partners to provide humanitarian assistance in accordance with the UN Resident Coordinator’s Disaster Response Plan.
