Cambodian international student - Chin Alex (born in 1998) is a 5th year student at the Military Medical Academy. Alex said he has a special relationship with Vietnam.

In 2017, a rubber plantation company in Cambodia invited him to participate in a friendly volleyball tournament in Vietnam. Alex agreed immediately. After the volleyball tournament ended, Alex returned to Cambodia with many dreams. In 2019, he asked his parents to let him study in Vietnam. His parents fully supported him.

Living and studying at the Military Medical Academy is something that makes Alex proud. “I think not only me but all international students feel proud to be international students of one of the most prestigious schools in Vietnam. Here, we receive the attention and enthusiastic support of the academy from studying to eating and sleeping,” the male student confided.

As for the hardest thing to adapt to when first arriving in Vietnam, Alex said it was the taste. Vietnamese dishes are often bland and slightly sweet, while traditional Cambodian dishes tend to be more salty, sour and spicy.

"Luckily, I was trained in a military environment, so I adapted quite quickly. Now I love Vietnamese food ," the young man said, revealing that he enjoys Pho the most.

When he was a freshman, his Vietnamese was limited, so sometimes he couldn't understand what his friends and teachers were saying. The most difficult part was the specialized subjects that required a wide range of Vietnamese and many complicated medical terms.

After 5 years, Alex now not only speaks Vietnamese fluently but also confidently sings Vietnamese songs by heart. Alex recently participated in the Vietnamese Language Olympic Contest organized by the Military Medical Academy. His team won second prize.

Alex shared that he doesn't know when he started loving Vietnamese so much. He often reads books about proverbs, stories, and history in Vietnamese. The Cambodian student's knowledge and language have been built up day by day, month by month, year by year. Now he confidently plays music, sings, dances, and acts entirely in Vietnamese.

Alex is described by his friends as an extrovert who likes to socialize and make friends. He actively participates in many school competitions and actively participates in volunteer activities.

At each of those big and small events, Alex never appeared alone. Accompanying Alex was always the guitar he had been playing since grade 11. The boy affirmed: "Playing and singing is my great passion."

The male student revealed that he showed his talent when he was quite young. He could listen to and sing a song very quickly. In grade 11, he started practicing playing the guitar, whenever he had free time, he would take out the guitar and sing. That passion grew in Alex every day.

Duc Chinh - Alex's best friend said: "Alex is handsome, 1m8 tall, a hot boy, good at studying, good at singing and playing music, good at sports , especially volleyball". Alex won first prize twice in the Men's Volleyball competition organized by the Military Medical Academy. He also plays soccer.

Alex admits that he is not the best at anything, but he tries his best in every field. For the 26-year-old man, as long as he has determination, anything is possible.

Regarding his plans after completing his studies in Vietnam, Alex confided: “I will bring the knowledge I have learned back to serve my country. In addition, when I have free time, I will continue to pursue my passion for music . Being both a doctor and a singer, why not?”
